Surviving at the Pleasure of the President

"You is feeling like you was lost in the bush, boy? You says: It is a puling sample jungle of woods. You most shouts out: Bethicket me for a stump of beech if I have the poultriest notions what the farest he all means."~~James Joyce, Finnegans Wake (1939)My friend Bernie says ever since the Bush gang stormed the White House in 2000, then stormed the World Trade Center in 2001, we've done nothing but run in circles like a bunch of terrified chickens with our heads chopped off. "We have no sense of direction," Bernie said, "we're staggering around in a jungle of lies, deceit, and scandal with no way out -- and that's the way they planned it."
"You're kidding!" I exclaimed, astonished. "You mean they planned this mess? It's nothing but bloody chaos out there --"
Bernie nodded. "You got that right. Bloody chaos is the best -- the only -- way to get what they're after. Don't be fooled by those little American flags stuck in the lapels of this bunch," Bernie continued. "The people in this nation, the hungry and homeless, the ill, the elderly, displaced Katrina victims, and especially those returning from war's inferno either in body bags or maimed physically, psychologically, and spiritually aren't even blips on their New World Order radar screen. They suffer at the pleasure of the president."

Mything the Point on "Honor and Dignity"

Myths are as old as humanity. Some provide useful insights. Some provide comforting notions. Some are merely entertaining. Some are downright dangerous. Rulers have relied on the power of myths to lead and mislead people since time immemorial.
Misleading myths (aka "Mything the Point"), like all lies, beget more lies. That is why we need to weed them out on a routine basis. If we let them go unchallenged, they will run riot and eventually choke us in our sleep.
Which brings me to a myth that needs to be uprooted:
RESTORING HONOR AND DIGNITY TO THE OVAL OFFICE

Singing the praises of the "Bush Doctrine"

In his revised version, Bush offers no second thoughts about the preemption policy, saying it "remains the same" and defending it as necessary for a country in the "early years of a long struggle" akin to the Cold War. Some security specialists criticized the continued commitment to preemption. "To have a strategy on preemption and make it central is a huge error," said Harlan Ullman, a senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
Bush has decided to set the example and go on the offensive himself. He is bringing his particular brand of "Shock and Awe" to towns and hamlets across the nation, roadtesting his presentation so he can hone his message for prime time. Here's a report from the field....

Hastert, Boehner, Hyde, and Others Say Impeach

I was very impressed at how outraged they were, how concerned they were about ensuring honor and integrity in the White House. They believe that if the President continues such behavior it would ultimately destroy the fabric of our society and the foundations of our government for future generations.
They were quite firm in saying that such issues were above partisan politics.
If you don't have time to read it all, in summary they said that: A lying President is the antithesis of Truth, Justice and the American Way.
I am relieved, because now I know that they will have to impeach George W. Bush.
This will be the first of a series of diaries where I will share what I learned with you.

Impeachment is in the air... I can Smell it

Be careful of what you wish for... It may just come true. Keep this in mind when looking to impeach the monkey boy, King George!
