Bush & Lieberman - Flip-Flopping Clones Email Print

"Stay the course!"

That is all you will get from both Bush and Lieberman.

Despite President Bush's recent denials that "We've never been stay the course" and the NY Times' FALSE assertions to counter Ned Lamont's caqmpaign charges that Joe Lieberman has been a consistent cheerleader for Bush's failed "Stay the course!" policy, the fact remains that this is a bold face lie that exposes BOTH Bush and Lieberman's  penchant for polticizing this war by telling people whatever they have to in order to cover their political asses and get more votes.  It also doesn't say much about the researchers and writers at the post Judy "neocon propaganda" Miller NY Times.

Bush Vacations? Iraq Burns? Enough!! Netroots 'BIG MO' Must grow with NYBri and Ned Lamont! Email Print

First, congrats to Ned Lamont and Co. Lamont Rocks!!!

Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.comNow take a deep breath and let loose with a Cheshire-cat smile as we celebrate for a moment the victory of people power in Connecticut. Clearly a message has been sent. People-powered Netroots is a force to reckon with even in its infancy.

The New York Times describes the election results as "a vivid demonstration of how the Iraq war is buffeting American politics and of the deep hostility toward President Bush among Democrats." It also "suggested there are stiff anti-status-quo winds blowing across the political landscape as the fall elections approach." Lamont's victory "marked the first time that liberal political blogs, after playing an increasingly noisy role in Democratic politics, have been associated with a major winning campaign, suggesting a moment of arrival for this new force in political combat."

And the USA Today writes "the depth of Democratic opposition to the war in Iraq coupled with a challenger who had personal wealth and the fervent backing of liberal bloggers denied Lieberman his party's nomination for a fourth term -- and launched a warning flare to some incumbents in both parties."

Of course, a battle has been won -- an immensely important one, but the war has just begun.

Senator Lieberman: Does Hannity Represent the Democratic Party's Mainstream? Email Print

As Senator Joseph Lieberman seeks to secure the Democratic Party's nomination in Connecticut a question must be asked, one that becomes more increasingly relevant with each passing day.  With Lieberman expressing concern that so many members of his party on the important issue of values, he has made a prominent new ally.

This new alliance not only begs an important question, it presages a more involved discussion of the direction where Senator Lieberman is taking America.  It lies at the heart of where the Democratic Party stands and the ideological ground it should encompass in the future.

It must also be asked whether Lieberman and others like him are part of a unilateral disarmament movement to enable the Cheney-Bush style of radical Republicanism to reign unchallenged.

As has been noted, Lieberman has made a recent ally of Fox News right wing Republican commentator Sean Hannity.  On one of his recent appearances Lieberman expressed concern that so many in his party do not understand traditional American values.  The Fox commentator was only too happy to agree.

Lieberman for Republican Spokesperson; Lamont for Senator Email Print

Senator Joseph Lieberman has been the recent recipient of solid praise from Sean Hannity at Fox News.  Lieberman has been appearing with such delightful frequency that he has received the tag "Fox Democrat" for that and the compatibility of his views with those such as Hannity who interview him there.

Hannity in a recent broadcast took the step of endorsing Lieberman for reelection in Connecticut, adding that he would either praise or denounce him, whichever yielded the most positive results.

In that same conversation Hannity delivered another of his unwittingly side-splittingly humorous lines in stating that perhaps he and Lieberman should start a third party, where his own Reagan conservative values could be better represented than in the current Republican Party.  The statement was particularly revealing in analyzing the beliefs Hannity imputes to Lieberman.

The Connecticut solon responded revealingly by stating sadly that so many members of his current nominal party, the Democrats, have trouble embracing traditional American values, presumably the kind he and the Hannity Fox mainstream come by naturally.

Ned Lamont for Senator; Help Combat Bush Lite Email Print

On Monday, March 13 at 4 p.m. Ned Lamont will announces his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for the United States Senate in Connecticut in the historic setting of the Old Statehouse in Hartford.

Lamont's candidacy occurs amidst a groundswell from progressive forces over positions taken by his opponent, incumbent Senator Joseph Lieberman, whose resume includes serving as running mate to then Vice President Al Gore in the 2000 presidential race.

After analyzing the issues I wholeheartedly endorse the candidacy of Ned Lamont and believe that it holds not only the best course for propagating progressive ideals in the twenty-first century, but has been rendered necessary under evolving political circumstances.  Taking this position puts me in a far different context than when I began my citizen participation in Los Angeles.

Having grown up in a Union household with my father a lifelong member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, and being active in the then thriving Democratic Party grassroots club movement, my inclination has been to support  incumbents, believing that to alter this pattern was to play into the hands of the Republicans, who then as now sought to spark division within Democratic ranks.
