Bush's Presidency a Failure Email Print

A new CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll is absolutely devastating to the Bush Junta. If you so wish, feel free to perform the "Snoopy Happy Dance," even if you're at work; if anyone asks, tell them it's a "religious thing" and threaten to file a lawsuit if they keep bothering you. Now, onto the poll.

A whopping majority, 55% "now judge Bush's presidency to be a failure," and believe that the remaining three years of "his" presidency will continue to be a failure;

Only 49% view Bush as honest and trustworthy (which is amazingly high and just underscores the fact that the "liberal media" is a complete and total fabrication of the extreme right-wing);

56% believes he can't "manage the government effectively;"

51% have an unfavorable opinion of Dick Cheney;

40% have an unfavorable opinion of Karl Rove (versus 24% that have a favorable opinion and 21% that have never heard of the wee pig);

43% have an unfavorable opinion of "Scooter" Libby (versus 10% favorable and 31% who've never heard of him);

45% think Libby did something illegal by participating in the outing of Valerie Plame, 21% think his actions were unethical but not illegal, and 8% are delusional and believe he did nothing wrong;

55% believe that Dick Cheney knew full well what Libby was up to -- versus 29% who believe Cheney was ignorant and 16% who don`t have an opinion on the subject;

Finally, 53% (versus 45%) believe the "Bush administration deliberately misled the American public" about Iraq having WMDs.

I know some people don't regard opinion polls very highly, but as far as I'm concerned, every poll with results like the one above is a morale-boosting victory.

Such polls also serve as a benchmark, allowing us to gauge our progress in the ongoing fight against the most corrupt White House in America's history.

The percentage of people who've never heard of Rove and Libby, for example, makes me realize how deeply I live in the political world, how much more detail I know and (basically) how out of touch I am with mainstream America. This always creeps me out.

On the other hand, it's nice to see that a majority not only think the war is a mistake (from a different poll, I realize), but how many people just flat out believe Bush lied to take us to war.

THAT should scare the shit out of HIM (although I'd be curious how many of those who thought he lied thought it was okay to lie. When I go to conservative sites, I've actually seen justification for "leader lying because he knows best.").

I was talking to a fairly apolitical friend yesterday about PlameGate, and after listening for five minutes he said, "You know, I find what you're saying fascinating, but I only understand about 70% of it."

Every person of voting age in this country should know what's going on and be able to understand it in a larger context; that so many people don't explains why the country is on the brink.
