the "Related Articles" chosen? The FAQ does not say. Is it some automagical algorithm based on the selected keywords, or is it at the discretion of the writer of the post, or is it from some other voodoo at which I cannot guess?

...it's an advanced blogoworld DNA detector via a fiber-optic bionic impulse notifier, which is transmitted to a library somewhere in Montclaire, NJ, where, on the receiving end, is a team of librarians, who are threatened with Patriot Act charges if they don't find appropriate corresponding material quickly, and then re-transmit the information back through the pipeline to a translator function here in the Political Cortex software where the results are projected on teh screen.

In other words, I have no idea.

I'm guessing it's not at the discretion of the author of the post, since that would be you. It kind of looks like it takes keywords and searches other blogs for matches, and then picks some random subset of those blogs. In other words, not too far removed from your original explanation.

....and we were team members, I'd say,"Let's go with it."

Seriously, I think that's how it works since I've been given no instructions about it...

Maybe tied in with Google?

...the site is loaded with them.  They pop out as you travel deeper into it.  The WUSIWYG editor (which can be checked at the top at the "My Preferences>Interface") is totally way cool.

my favorite is definitely the "editorial" comments. I was really impressed with the editorial threads on Luam's post.

...that you can select on your preferences page...and the feed appears on the bottom right of your front page.

Hopefully, we'll build a greater RSS library...

like that.  Blogmaster Tom explained it to us in one of his many, um, patient replies to our inquiries, but, like Bri, I'm not altogether remembering the specificities ...

But yes, it is a keyword alogrithm thing (not just of blogs but also of news), and, as you see, like most computer keyword algorithm thingies, it is sometimes more reliable than others.

(Like, for instance, looking at the stories that were up just now I'm guessing Brian in putting up an open thread, was not expecting a link to an open thread for the Bears-Vikings game!)

I never noticed that before.  How "this one goes up to 11" cool.

lol.

Tom wanted to add a "perfect" rating.  For whatever that means.

That's exaclty what I said (I mean the "this one goes up to 11" thought.)

I think TPMCafe has ratings up to 5, perhaps that's what Tom was working off of ...

I haven't read all the rules yet in the FAQ, but I love the look and the organization.  I especially love separating types of diaries.

You were on my to-do list today. I was going to hunt you down and drag you over here.

Glad to see you made it!

Am I missing a trackback feature, or is none available?

by CLB on 11/01/2005 11:48:00 AM EST

I don't think scoop has a trackback feature.  That's something taht would have to go through a third party service, like haloscan.

Maybe we'll see if it can be integrated into scoop.
