SENATE GOES INTO CLOSED SESSION Email Print

CNN reporting Harry Reid moved pursuant to Rule 21 to have the Senate go into closed session for the first time in 25 years.

The motion was non-debatable.  Durbin seconded the motion.  Democratic leadership will do it EVERY day until the GOP gets to the bottom of whether the intelligence was manipulated.

I'm ignorant on this; looked up Rule 21 but cannot understand context/relevance.

Apparently, there are "Standing Rules" and "Permanent Rules" (that I linked to above).  Someone at Booman pointed this out.

...suhts down all other business and clears all TV cameras, cellphones, PDAs, Senate staff, reporters, and tourists, in order for the Senate as a whole to discuss classified intel. The rule was last invoked 25 years ago.

Thanks for the quick update.  This section is good for this sort of thing.

Can I suggest that someone who has time should pop this onto the front page?  This is huge - hasn't happened in 25 years.  This represents a major shift in strategy.

I have e-mailed Sen. Reid to thank him.  I used to live in Nevada and I voted for him.  I also telephoned my two California senators to thank them for their part in this.  I want every Senator to know that we, the American public, stand behind them in getting to the bottom of all of the lies.

Finally, thank you Georgia, for giving us all a place to express our appreciation.

Also, thank you all for this wonderful website.
