Santorum Backpeddles from Bush and Iraq

In a speech in Philadelphia, Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., criticized how the war has been presented to Americans both by the media and the White House. Afterward, Santorum said the war has been "less than optimal" and "maybe some blame could be laid" at the White House. "Certainly, mistakes were made," Santorum said.Translation for Santorum's media-hating base: "The war would be more popular at home if it weren't for the 'lying' media and Bush's piss-poor Iraq PR campaign."
Translation for the majority of Pennsylvanians who would rather have Bob Casey as their senator: "I want you to believe that I believe that Bush made some mistakes when selling the war, launching the war, and conducting the war, so that you'll think I'm a moderate and vote for me instead of Casey, who I'm planning to smear days before the November 2006 election."
"Man On Dog Loveboy" isn't fooling anyone with half a brain... which, of course, excludes nearly every registered Republican, all of whom are -- thankfully -- outnumbered by registered Democrats: He's in a heated re-election battle and trying to play both sides of the fence.
