BlogLeft Massachusetts - A bloggers' conference Dec 10 2005 Email Print

As hard as it is to create a buzz about an event on Thanksgiving week, I'm trying to do just that.

Myself and other enterprising bloggers in Massachusetts are putting together a blog conference on December 10th, 2005, the first of its kind here in our state. All those interested in blogging and its future in MA are invited to attend this forum in Worcester, where we will meet from 10:30 until 4pm. It is my hope that this is the first in a long line of get-togethers where we can strengthen our blogging community.

First, what we are doing: we'll be featuring two speakers, Stirling Newberry of BOPnews.com and frequent, popular diarist at dailykos.com, and Frederick Clarkson, your host at the new Talk To Action website, and blogger here at Political Cortex and his own blog. Stirling will talk about blogs and analysis - how we can improve on writing about what the mainstream media is not covering. Fred will talk about the intersection of blogging and his experience in getting active in grassroots organizations like Progressive Dems of Massachusetts.

Then, we'll have breakout groups moderated by other guests; subjects are still fluid (though one breakout group will talk about getting involved in the MA Dem party with moderator and party member Kate Donaghue). Other subjects may include a discussion about the future of citizen journalism, and free speech and the web (with H.R. 4194 looming in Congress).

Here are some more details:

While things begin to slow down for the holidays, people will need to browse.

Hope they spot this.  (I already knew about it, but am happy to see the post.)
