Happy Holidays -- Tell us about your blog!! Email Print

[editor's note, by Tom Ball] Brought this back to the top of the list so it wasn't shortchanged by the Holiday sleep-fest. Also, take the poll!

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

Now it's time to start looking to the "end of year" holidays. And isn't this special, for the first time in years (don't ask me when it happened last time), Christmas, Chanukah, and Kwanza overlap.

Everybody coming together to celebrate what they wish to celebrate -- in peace and harmony.

And, to kick off a little Holiday season good cheer, please share your blog with us, and if it is related to progressive politics, causes, ideology, or current events, we would be happy to link to you in our Blogroll page!

We only ask that you return the good will with a little link back to your friends at the Cortex:)

This is an open thread.

After blog stints of various length and quality (FreeandBrave.com in 2000, PoliticlaStrategy.org -- version I in 2001, DailyNewsOnline.com in 2003, and PoliticalStrategy.org -- version II in 2004), I came to a point where I thought it was time to step it up -- round up some of the greatest minds in the political blogosphere (IMO), create a kickass site with pioneering functionality (also IMO), and work to create one of the premier progressive political communities on the net.

In essence, the founders and I hope to bring this vision to fruition.

Political Cortex -- Brain Food for the Body Politic

...as King Tom has said above, this is a total kickass blog...and i"m hoping it grows to realize Tom's dream.

I consider this my blog now.

I have a small personal blog...NYBri where I play and learn.  It's been a challenge to keep it up while working here as well.

I also was part of the team that created ePluribus Media...along with SusanG and many others.

Happy Holidays, everyone.

...but someday I'll find a design that I like (I think the current look is design #3,674).

When I started blogging three years ago (see here) I realized that I was not much of an essayist but I was fairly good at short, semi-snarky posts and witty titles. I also suspected that brief hit-and-run posts would make my blog more likely to be read, as I discovered that there were so many blogs to read, but so little time to read in-depth all of the blogs I liked.

And I've just realized that I need to post a diary today, so I must bid this thread adieu, for now.

I run a Blog called Political Sports. I use the  sports metaphor to analyze and comment on politics. It provides a slightly different way to view the players, teams, rules and strategies of the political arena. I also hope that the sports analogy will attract readers who might not normally read political web sites.

There is no doubt that political participation is very low when compared to other western democracies. Many people feel that their political leaders are either corrupt or unreachable. I think that is wrong. However, nothing changes without effort, both on my part and theirs. I am doing everything I can to get others involved, to convince them that they can make a difference.

This is one of three sites I frequent regularly for Left sided news and views. With the caliber of writer's working on this site, I have faith in it's longevity. It isn't like there's a dearth of material.

My own site is more opinion based. And, it isn't always news...worthy. But, it is mine. Thanks for the opportunity.

Common Sense is not Common

by RustyBrown on 11/25/2005 10:05:25 PM EST

Since you asked...

My principal blog, No More Apples, is a progressive commentary on American politics, and occasionally religion and culture. I started it as a sort of journal of my thoughts and as a way of communicating with family and friends, who have a tendency to depend upon me to keep them abreast with current events. It's also a form of therapy -- it keeps me from throwing my shoe at the TV when the news is on.

I have another, Political Poet, on which I post the various whimsies (song and poem parodies) that strike me from time to time. I also link to them on No More Apples. My "Rumsfeld Rag" was a finalist in the 2004 Koufax Awards in the "Most Humorous Post" category, which is ironic since it's one of my poorer efforts.

I've been linking to Political Strategy for quite some time, and really like the new site! Best of luck --

Backward and in high heels.

I run the Anti Sam Brownback Blog

As a Kansan, I know first hand that Brownback is a dangerous nut.  Now that he is running for President, I figured I would get the oppo started early.

I'd love a link in the blogroll!

for a lurker to pimp, here  ya go.
It's just me being a loud-mouthed leftie smart ass, for the most part.  I don't pretend to be in the same league with the Big Boys of Blogging, but HAD to get out of usenet forums for fear of going insane.  Hence, my entry to bloggery.   I've got two additional contributors whose postings are infrequent, but wonderful, and I'm working on cajoling a third...
I added you folks to my own blogroll on the day of your launch and have been reading regularly.  Bravo to the excellent work to date. Y'all kick ass.

Cheers.

I've seen you at MLW and occasionally at Daily Kos and you always seem to have something bright and pithy and smart and funny and sarcastic to say.

I hope you de-lurk here and let loose with that mouth of yours. I love it.

High praise, coming from you, Susan.  Much appreciated :)
I'll make a point of waxing snarky in these hallowed halls from now on!

...what's wrong with me but I let wingers comment at my site, just another Cranky Little Blog.  Maybe it's so that I can study them (kind of a Gorilla's in the Mist thing).  Maybe it's because like a very VERY bad accident , I just can't look away.  On the brighter side, if they're slamming my site they can't be sending their legislator's letters demanding stoopid legislation (like abortion bans).  You do what you can, right?

by CLB on 11/29/2005 01:39:30 AM EST

My opinion blog is What's The Question, and Political Cortex has been on my BlogRoll since Day One.

I have a number of other blog sites that I maintain, but What's The Question is the only one where I will do political  commentary. Have to admit that as of late, I've been a little more focused on my other sites to post there (or be much of a contributor on other sites), but the main web work of the other sites has been completed and I'll be getting back to more regular posting.

Time just seems to run thin. Hopefully, the web side of things will eventually hit the point that I can devote myself to it full time, rather than sacrifice sleep to it. But in the meantime, I'll blog on bleary-eyed like most of us.

my blog is The WitList (not a great title, I know, but it's too late to change that now). It's mostly satire with the occasional wild-eyed rant tossed in for spice. I have a small but dedicated readership in various cities across the country, and I waste inordinate amounts of time on it instead of doing paying work (also writing).

Someone at TPM Cafe (where I usually cross post) suggested I post over here. Had not heard of the Cortex until then. Now it may become a regular part of my nightly blog obsession.

Please add me to your blog roll.

thanks.
