Has U.S. Democracy Degenerated into Senators for Sale to Big Business Lobbyists?

Perhaps they understood for the very first time that Iraqis might have welcomed seeing Saddam ousted from power, but the last thing they wanted for the U.S.A. to linger on and dictate how the Iraqi government should be run. Rest assured, they recognized the magnetic pull of Iraqi oil. U.S. oil barons with their staggering current gas prices have shown what a greedy lot they are while profits skyrocket. The Bush Administration, of course, does nothing about it. After all, oil companies were fabulous Republican campaign contributors.
Enron's notorious Kenneth Lay still walks around as a free man after all the Enron corruption debacle. Lay and his Enron cronies nearly bankrupted the "Golden State" with their ruthless rape of California's economy. Instead of calling Kenneth Lay Inflation Enemy Number 1, Bush socialized with him and enjoyed box seats at baseball games together. He called him "Kenny Boy" and treated him as a close friend.
California's catastrophe victims called this tycoon something else. Friends in high places haven't hurt Kenneth Lay, that's for sure!
Practically every congressman was hugging Bush, congratulating him as they cheered him off to a war that will long live in infamy. The Republican Administration might not learn the full consequences of this needless U.S. conflict, which helped Halliburton obtain no bid contracts. The U.S. taxpayers were double charged as the greed mongers at Halliburton raped the American taxpayers while waving American flags and pounding the drums for patriotism, as if we were back fighting World War Two, which we now know was anything but the case.
Perhaps every nation on earth isn't interested in Desperate Housewives as American audiences apparently are, with sex being second only in importance to eating. One-third of the American public is obese; having feasted on fast food, fat infested meat diets, along with plenty of beer and sugar laced soft drinks.
The suggestive sex shows are infested with four letter words to help American youth improve their vocabulary, as sex is reduced to the lowest common denominator. Is this the sex idea that the U.S. is trying to export? Motion pictures have become obsessed with violence and U.S. society reflects this trend statistically. With nature disasters on the average year (earthquakes, floods, hurricanes) kill around 650 people, and automobile accidents over 40,000 - criminal activity ranks highest with a million and a half criminal incidents.
One video game that has just been released is called Stubbs the Zombie. The review of this sick video game in New Times, a magazine for Broward and Palm Beach, Florida counties, states, "Set in the 1950's Stubbs the Zombie is a door to door salesman who rises from the dead." The less than enlightening dialogue contains sayings such as, "Time to kick ass and take names? More like pass gas and eat brains." As for Stubbs's conduct, "He cuts fetid zombie farts that leaves humans reeling, then cracks open their skulls and slurps their brains." The reviewer found the game "amusingly grotesque!" Amusing? The reviewer adds, "And if all this fails, Stubbs simply beats people into submission with their torn-off limbs."
What other nation on earth produces such sick, dangerously rotten films for their kids? Can you blame other nations for not wanting to allow U.S. entertainment moguls to contaminate their movies, television or video games?
What a shocker to see how Cheney did not hesitate to recommend various techniques of extracting information from prisoners, using methods which Senator John McCain defined as "unacceptable" forms of interrogation, apparently feeling that Cheney was perhaps approving of torture techniques, which have been proven ineffective. Letting a prisoner lie on a cold cement floor naked, filling the prisoner with water, and not allowing toilet access, so that the prisoner is urinating or defecating on himself is a proven dead-end street for extracting reliable information.
Now comes the big question. What kind of punishment should be meted out to men who were so anxious to go to war (that is, have other people go to war) to achieve their goals, and whom we now know lied to frighten and stir up the public? Even worse, they dared to impugn the loyalty of anyone who dared disagree with them. Now the entire world knows what this Republican Administration has done.
But is Bush fully aware of what people the world over think of him? Is he aware somewhere in the back of his mind that his trips all over the world only intensify the disgust people feel for him? The eyes of the world are fully aware of the big lie that plunged the U.S. into the Iraq War.
A former Italian military informer for Italian military intelligence has been revealed as the source of forged documents claiming Iraq tried to buy uranium ore. This was the pretext for Bush's rush to war in Iraq. In the Miami Herald on November 4, 2005, it was revealed, "Italy's spymaster identified an Italian occasional spy named Rocco Martino ... as the disseminator of forged documents that described efforts by Iraq to buy hundreds of tons of uranium ore from Niger for a nuclear weapons program, three Italian lawmakers said. General Nicolo Pollari, director of the Italian Military Intelligence Agency known as Sismi, named Martino as the source of the forged documents."
Tragically, these forged documents were claimed to be given to Martino from a contact at the Niger Embassy in Rome. Because Wilson didn't provide the Bush Administration with verification of these lies and forged documents, someone inside the Bush team revealed Wilson's wife's name, as a spy. This was an act of obvious vengeance. When individuals are hell-bent to go to war, and don't want the truth, they will go after anyone who dares oppose them in their diabolical war schemes. Bush even went so far as to say he spoke with his "other father", a blasphemous claim, as we now know.
Having exposed Valerie Plame, Wilson's wife, to death threats and possible death itself, the only fair, honest and ethical course for both Bush and Cheney is resignation. Certainly, a sex act in the oval office and not telling the full truth about it can never be compared to launching a war such as this horrifying Administration has done in Iraq, which has killed an estimated 100,000 Iraqis and over 2,000 U.S. military personnel while another 15,000 U.S. service personnel have been wounded.
The American public, if they possess ethical standards and want fair play, should demand that Bush be impeached as rapidly as possible. Curtail those Air Force One visits around the world, which hurt the reputation of the U.S.A. Bush can swagger as proud as a peacock, but he will, I predict, go down in history as the worst president America ever had.
I predict that this Republican Administration will eventually have the distinction of being the most despised in history. When the realization finally sinks in of being responsible for the Iraq killing quagmire and of plunging the nation to the verge of bankruptcy all efforts at spin control by Karl Rove as well as the propaganda mouthing of Rupert Murdoch Fox hired guns such as Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity will prove futile. Bush and Cheney will stand fully exposed as liars and hypocrites of the lowest order.
