Hey Lierberman? Shut the Fuck Up Email Print

So, Joe Lieberman may soon be rebuked by several Democratic organizations, while rumors abound that the Bush Junta may recruit him as the next DOD secretary, thus giving the Republican governor of his state the chance to appoint a GOPster to Joe's Senate seat.

To anyone fretting over the Republicans gaining another seat in the Senate, allow me to allay your fears: Joe Lieberman IS a Republican, for all intents and purposes, so this really wouldn't be a loss for Democrats.

Further, Lieberman would be inheriting the Iraq quagmire, and maybe when he sees what kind of cluster fuck it really is, he'll betray the Bushites just as he has repeatedly betrayed the party he pretends to be a member of... Although I won't be holding my breath for THAT event.

Too bad Lieberman doesn't show the same devotion to America and the Democratic Party that he shows to Israel and the Bush Administration; he'd be a better person -- and a better Senator -- if he did.

Fuck Lieberman

I think I'd actually favor a sane, moderate, non-fundie Republican over Liebermann in this seat (a Chaffee or Snowe). I'm tired of always having to guess what Liebermann's going to say or do next to undermine progressive beliefs. Well ... no ... that's not quite true. I'm rarely guessing. We know what he'll do.

Seriously, I'd rather have an out in the open, reasonable opponent that this stealth stuff from our own side. I think it's time to wave bye bye to Joe.

And I don't need another lecture about how he votes on social issues or giving Bill Frist another nod for the leadership.  Leiberman has provided essential cover that's made possible the direct killing of over 100,000 human beings.  He's taken money away from social programs and turned into blood and mud in Iraq.  He's complicit in everything now going on in Iraq.

It is very disheartening to this old Democrat to have Lieberman in the public view reminding me of how far right my party has gone that he has not yet been just simply booted out.

And I don't lose any sleep over his senate seat, as I look at his voting record and see a Bish loyalist on most majore legislation in the past year.

for him to shut up. He's made his bed.

I hope there's a primary challenge -- my checkbook's wide open and ready to go.

You won't even need to make a phone call. It's clear where he stands. Easy peasy assignment, if you ask me.

His press secretary is "unavailable."

Must be too busy getting ready to take over the Department of Defense from Rummy.

...to his press secretary. I don't know about you, but if I had a chance to speak to LIEberman himself, I might get myself in trouble with the Secret Service.

But we want Lieberman to be replaced a a piece of GOP junk by Rell in Connecticut.

  1. Joe will be gone from the Dem party for good.

  2. Whomever Rell appoints will be a "one year wonder" to be replaced in 06 by either Weickert or Blumenthal, the two most likely Dems to run for the Senate after Joe splits. (They also happen to be 2 of the most popular politicians in Connecticut, rivaled only by Rell in popularity.)

  3. Joe will be gone from the Dem party for good.

You end up trading off 1 year of a republican in both name and ideology for years of real left representation. Or, at least, real Dem representation.

Don't tell Joe to shut up. Tell him to leave and join his neocon cronies. It's a win-win as far as most of the Connecticut Left-wing sees it.

Weickert is a Republican-leaning Independent. And my piece essentially says what you said; Lieberman is not a Democrat, isn't wanted in the party, and may be going over to the Bush White House -- which wouldn't be a loss for our side.

I realized Weickert was an independent after I wrote it... (Can't take it back, lol). But even if Weickert were to challenge and win it would be a real upgrade from Doh! Lieberman. He is more of a real "moderate conservative", not one of those fake GOP neochicken types.

Take a look at CT's AG Blumenthal. He would likely get even more support across the board from CT voters. Throwing Weickert into the mix WITH Blumenthal would be a bit messy for voters. We'll see.

I just hope that someone with a great chance to win will make a serious commitment to run against Joe, either in the primaries or the actual race.

There are rumors that they ( the democrats) may help someone else run against him. A person is in a quagmire, now that we are there. do we finish the job or pull out. What would really hurt this Administration, is take away any oil leasing or area exploration rights made before the pull-out. Then give all those rights back to the Iraq people, and let them enjoy the profits from the oil instead of the oil companies

This guy has been a bad joke, played on the Democratic Party from day one.  I almost vomited when Gore chose him as a running mate.

I am picking a few of the comments and the main article here to fax to LIEberman.   He'll never read it but maybe someone in his office will & pass the word!

Now if we can just get Kerry to go away as well.  I've already unsubscribed from his mailing list as I couldn't stand the sanctimonious crap about 'things would have been better if.'

Lieberman annoys me, no doubt about it, but having a conservative Democrat is ALWAYS better than having a republican.  Not always by much but folks, we are in no position to complain.
We, as liberals (I am assuming I speak to most readers here) must NOT make the mistake of cannibalizing ourselves!  Focus on the real 'enemy'.
