The Republican Gang That Couldn't Loot Straight Email Print

President Bush and his Administration have been tragically misleading us.  Among the more blatant and destructive courses in this direction has been the infamous war promotion fear campaign with the "weapons of mass destruction" high voltage propaganda pitch.

This was geared to strike fear, to rev the American public into a "fight or die" war frame.  Once the truth was revealed, once much of Iraq's infrastructure was destroyed, was there an apology for this deadly deception?

Not on your life!  The "Saddam was a bad man and we got rid of him" message was declared.  Nothing was mentioned as to why, if Saddam Hussein was such a bad man, did Daddy President Bush ask for that $3 billion loan to help Saddam buy foodstuffs during the elder president's first two years?

Then, suddenly, when we had announced we would not do anything about Saddam invading Kuwait, when Iraq felt fully justified in stopping Kuwait's oil steal through slant drilling, the Elder Bush went to war in the Gulf.

With righteous indignation, the U.S. rallied allies and the coalition managed to kill Iraqis running across the desert, many with their hands up begging to be taken prisoners, anything to escape from Saddam - a man the U.S. had supported for years with a "weapons buffet".

Now, as if that wasn't enough duplicity, and lying, the Bush Administration is caught in a spying scandal.  The law demands that when anyone's phone is tapped that legal permission must be granted through the courts.

But this President ignores laws, fantasizing he has done no wrong in going to war against Iraq when that nation never threatened or attacked us.  Is that any way to spread democracy across the Middle East?

When you think of who placed Bush in power, certainly not the voters of Florida, but the Supreme Court deciding what was best for the U.S., and placing him in power.

Many warnings were provided by intelligence channels concerning 9/11.  These warnings were ignored.  Why?  Were we anxious to have some U.S. citizens pay with their lives, to provide the war mongering mentality with a chance to try out their new weapons they've been working on day and night?  There has been no accountability for the warnings of 9/11.

There has been no price that eventually must be paid for Bush Administration officials leading the U.S. into a war in Iraq, which not only hasn't brought peace or democracy to Iraq, but also fomented a civil war.  Many U.S. enemies have been made and we must now consider this when thinking of safety for every citizen in the U.S.

The hypocrites in the Republican Administration dare to call themselves conservatives, when they spend us into a staggering $8 trillion national debt.  Where are the true patriots demanding impeachment?

Now we have the biggest Republican scandal since notorious Nixon and Watergate, unless we count the 2000 Bush election scandal, which displayed the hypocrisy of carrying democracy to the entire Middle East, when we couldn't be truly democratic about installing this Republican Bush in office!

The Bush Administration may think it won, but when history is written and the legacy of this Bush is written, it will make the Administrations of Harding and Nixon along with the Elder Bush combined look like Sunday school picnics.

Fallen super lobbyists, buying off the Republican Congressmen along with some Democrats, proves that democracy U.S. style is ignoring the votes of the citizens, when big business can buy off with bribes any Congressman willing to be bought off.

How can you operate any government democratically when buying off Congressmen and Senators with big cash bribes to buy the votes business wants?  Both Jack Abramoff and Michael Scanlon have plea-bargained.  Then national TV evening news programs displayed the pictures of the Congressmen who betrayed their public trust.  Suddenly they were all "born again" bribe artists.

Until lobbyists can no longer bribe with $50,000 golf excursions to Scotland's glorious golf courses or vacations in Hawaii and Florida, or big cash bribes, the U.S. cannot boast about democracy.

Why don't those religious fanatics who are trying every way they know how to destroy religious freedom and transform he U.S. into a danger-laden theocracy, which would lead directly to another Dark Age, ask Bush to account for every single death resulting from the Iraq War?

Why don't these religious crazies quit worrying about which movies or television programs should be banned and point out that people are being cut off Medicaid, food stamps, and heating costs as the nation freezes up, so Bush can funnel taxpayer dollars to the war and rebuilding of Iraq?

Wise up, we have a government of the lobbyists, by the lobbyists, and for the lobbyists!  We are trying to export this hypocritical brand of democracy all over the Middle East.  Is it any wonder that nations around the world marvel at the arrogant, impudent and debt-laden Bush Administration getting a second term, to plunge us into more death, debt and destruction?

Can't someone with an ounce of common sense get it into Karl Rove's head that he should stop suggesting that Bush chase all over the world in Air Force One using all that taxpayer money on wasted trips?  Nobody who is thinking straight will pay any attention to Bush's endless explanations of how he is steering the U.S. ship of state in the right direction.

It should be mandatory for every Congressman to take a complete course in world history, for only then will they understand the impossibility of changing religious and political concepts that have been around 5,000 years - hoping to let U.S. big business take over.  Some education might convince at least some that this counterfeit U.S. style of lobby-dominated democracy will never work.

it would benefit Bush enormously if he read the Constitution.

At least then he might understand those parts he's deliberately ignoring.

But this is also excellent advice and more realistic:

It should be mandatory for every Congressman to take a complete course in world history, for only then will they understand the impossibility of changing religious and political concepts that have been around 5,000 years - hoping to let U.S. big business take over.  Some education might convince at least some that this counterfeit U.S. style of lobby-dominated democracy will never work.

The obvious ignorance of world affairs and global history has crippled every agency in this Administration.  But I'm not sure we have time to correct that.  It would be easier to "clean house" and sweep 'em out.

Taxes shall be levied according to ability to pay. That is the only American principle. FDR

You are right and a thorough house (or House) cleaning is very much in order.  Thanks for the comment.  I do believe that in the long run it is necessary to be informed about history and hence I pose the idea about a requirement for those voting on crucial matters relating to countries throughout the globe.  The ignorance on the part of so many of these people about the history of other nations is appalling.
