Impeachment is in the air... I can Smell it Email Print

Be careful of what you wish for... It may just come true.  Keep this in mind when looking to impeach the monkey boy, King George!

This week Zogby International released its poll and by a margin of 52% to 43%, Americans want Congress to consider impeaching President Bush if he wiretapped American citizens without a judge's approval, according to a new poll commissioned by AfterDowningStreet.org, a grassroots coalition that supports a Congressional investigation of President Bush's decision to invade Iraq in 2003.

This means that more Americans polled, want to see Impeachment proceedings. Now lets compare this data against a little bit of history from PollingReport.com which includes all of the public polls conducted during the Clinton Impeachment. In December 1998, prior to the Impeachment proceedings, an ABC poll shows that only 40% believed that the proceedings should begin, while 58% were opposed to the impeachment proceedings.

Now let's fast-forward a couple of months. The impeachment hearing were concluded, all of the testimony and evidence against Clinton has been brought to the public eye. The Senate has decided that Clinton is NOT GUILTY of the charges. An ABC poll found that 60% of Americans polled agreed with the Not Guilty finding. 39% disagreed. When asked, "Do you think the Senate should censure or officially reprimand Clinton for his actions in the Monica Lewinsky matter, or should it drop the case without censuring Clinton?", the poll found that 54% wanted the case dropped, while 44% wanted censure.

From the beginning, Americans have shown that they were against these impeachment hearings. While in this weeks `Bush impeachment' poll, more Americans polled agree with beginning the impeachment process.

Be careful of what you wish for...

I believe that the only thing worse that George W. Bush as President, would be Dick Cheney as President. But then again, who wants Dennis Hastert as President? So far, the best idea that I have heard regarding impeachment has come from Al Franken; wait until the last week of his Presidency, and then impeach him. That way we won't have to deal with Cheney for more than a week, if his heart holds up.

When the lies of the War in Iraq were systematically brought forward, I was all about impeaching this administration. When the news of the secret wiretaps came out, I really, really wanted impeachment. But after careful re-consideration, I hate to say that leaving the clown in office is probably the best thing to do. We should demand censure, and his presidency will forever be viewed as one of the worst, if not THE worst presidency in history. In lieu of impeachment, I recommend an all-out investigation to expose all of the lies and deceit of the Bush presidency which have remained secret, and bring them out in to the open. Full disclosure! This way future generations will be able to examine the flaws and mistakes and be able to avoid them in electing future Presidents.

Impeach Bush, slip Cheney some Viagra.  Hastert without Delay will also be a lame duck and maybe this will give the Democrats some much needed spine. Confusion is better than the destruction of the Constitution and the environment.

....and it seems that even The White House is bracing for it.
