Tracking the Republican Underground - The Simmons Cesspool 
In part one, I discover dormant political material from hell.
Do Something!
The voice on the other end of the phone is emphatic, "Why don't you Democrats DO SOMETHING! I'm a World War II vet and I think you're going to raise taxes."
He sounds like my father who died a few years ago. He was a World War II vet as well - Iwo Jima and the Pacific theatre. He never, ever spoke about the war. Not once in memory. But I saw the military books he hid away in a basement room on a higher shelf. I shouldn't have opened them.
Pages were filled with piles of dead bodies. I learned a lot about war in those pages. What can anyone talk about. How do you explain, justify, or account for what happens in war. There's nothing to say. I don't want to talk about it either.
My dad, like his fellow brothers and sisters came home from war and created the most successful, progressive, Democratic country on earth. A thriving middle class economic engine fueled employment, health, and social services unparalleled anywhere in a country this size. Today, they've been brainwashed to turn their backs on their own success. American Dream? What American Dream?
"We're not going to raise your taxes."
"Look I HATE THESE PEOPLE. I don't like what Bush is doing either. But you Democrats don't do anything about it! Why don't you DO SOMETHING!"
"We're trying, sir. We're all trying. Give Joe the benefit of your doubt. Thanks."
Later, I click on the youtube video smearing Courtney. There's that pile of bodies again. I think of the indignity of dying like that, naked, anonymous, humiliated - no final prayer. Whoever CT-CIA is, they have no idea how gruesome or outrageous the use of these pictures is. They have to come down. The voice of the dead would scream out to anyone, "How dare you use this shame for personal gain."
Joe is a Second District neighbor of ours. I couldn't believe what I was looking at. Stalin? Charges of communism. Thinly veiled threats of human miseries if Democrats are elected? The assertions are as absurdly bizarre as offensive. Politics is a rough sport but this was something else.
I traced CT-CIA to a conservative blog with no doors. The email was phoney. Nothing to trace there.
More pictures - 1930's Soviet propaganda art modified to imply Courtney was a Communist candidate. The blog postings sounded as if they were written by someone released from a Soviet Gulag. And the comments corresponding to the monologues suspiciously sounded as if either the same voice talking to itself, maybe a split personality or a cult but something wrapped inside itself. I thought I might be viewing the ramblings of a nut. Maybe a dangerous nut. There's nothing to suggest otherwise.
Maybe this was little more than a prototype for a Rovian whisper campaign aimed at the myopic faithful ever thirsty for more lies to fuel their delusions.
I write this because Simmons campiagn manager has never disavowed these acts. The Simmons campaign continues to assert that these kinds of smears are just "Freedom of Speech" issues that have been taken down because the Democrats are wusses. Healey implicitly approves of more. He and Simmons wash their hands, nod and wink, and move on to the next exploit. Republicans now marching with the ACLU because it suits their purposes.
Healey should be fired and Simmons should explicitly say that politics should never be this... filthy.
Simmons will never do it. The Republicans came to power thanks to an intern named Monica. Democrats were told that we didn't "share their values". So as I think about this in retrospect, Misenti was also an intern. One would think these so-called values would be the first thing an intern would be introduced to.
After all, if I'm a holier-than-thou Republican, I'd sit these kids down and say, "Look we're different. We would never stoop to stealing elections, seducing the impressionable, using fear to scare voters", and so on and mean it. In other words, the minute Simmons and Healey saw the video and website they should have said, "We take full responsibility. It should not have happened and won't happen again. That's not who we are."
No such retraction has ever been voiced. Why waste our breath on Healey, Simmons should resign.
Additionally, I try to make sense of why a Congessman from the second district chooses an intern from outside the district. At the time of trying to make sense of the CT-CIA website, I stumbled upon the clue that would lead me to an alias called King of Creation who boasted of being from Wethersfield, CT. Wethersfield is not in the second district. That paradox escalated my concerns.
I wasn't sure of the nature of the attack ads. They were coming from outside the district and I thought this might be a much broader propaganda effort maybe having propaganda fronts on Lamont and other House races. And I was concerned that my presence on the sites was raising suspicions. So I contacted other Democrats to help document the sites so that if they vanished overnight there'd be proof. But I cautioned everyone to be discreet because the gaming site was exposing a number of others who were participating in the attacks.
And I was concerned that King of Creation and his followers might be violent. He claimed to have attended the Simmons and Courtney debate from the week before resulting in wild observations on CT-CIA. But as King of Creation on the DuckAndCover website his avatar displayed a Clint Eastwood cowboy photo with the motto, "I eat babies" inscribed. There too he left no profile, email, or evidence of sane personhood to contact.
DuckAndCover is a gaming site that celebrates the playing and participation in games of extreme violence. First person shooters abound - explosions, torture, and mass killing bring joyful glee to the participants. The forums of social exchange read like a social services agency for sado-masochists and the deranged. I still don't know what to make of this stuff but I must admit it scares me and I don't like it.
Here King of Creation enlisted recruits to create the propaganda art that who show up in the CT-CIA weblog. Redeye whose avatar is a woman displaying a swastika on her forehead, Extreme Ryno, and Megatron all offer up images of devil's standing over voter's shoulders, hammers and sickles and more. King of Creation has seduced the willing crowd and turned his hatred of Courtney into a game - an ugly game.
As the days passed, the Democrats in fact remained discreet as many people examined and documented the evidence. No leaks.
