Republicans take Fear and Smear to a New Extreme Email Print

Maybe you thought Jim Talent's unrelenting stream of attacks against Claire McCaskill's family was the bottom of the Republican barrel.  Or maybe you were appalled at the race-baiting ads being used against Harold Ford in Tennessee.

But if you want to know the Republicans in full wingnut bloom, you need look no further than the campaign of Paul R. Nelson for Wisconsin's third district.

How about an ad that features gay marriage, terror attacks, homosexuals in the boy scouts, and illegal aliens burning an American flag all in one thirty second spot?  It's Republican fear and smearaganza, brought to you by the Nelson campaign

And honestly, that's Nelson's most reasonable ad.

If that previous ad wasn't enough to show you the real nature of Paul Nelson, you might try the commercial in which he uses the 9/11 attacks -- including detailed, slow motion videos of the planes hitting the twin towers -- accompanied by a voice over that says a Democratic congressman wants it to happen again.

You might also visit his web site in which he keeps the Republican fight against France going strong with a whole page of attacks on all things French, and adding a comment about the Frenchiness of Democrats.  His page includes multiple quotes from luminaries like Roy Blunt, Dennis Miller, and Marge Simpson.  That's right, Paul Nelson is depending on blue-haired cartoon characters for his foreign policy.  (I always did wonder where Republicans got their silly ideas.)

But nothing can top Nelson's New Ad, the one he proudly boasts about on his web site. This is the ad in which he accuses Democrat Ron Kind of

  • Failing to support the troops because he voted against "bunker buster" nukes
  • Taking funds away from cancer research to study the sex lives of Vietnamese prostitutes.
  • Taking funds away from heart disease research to study masturbation
  • Spending tax dollars to force teenagers to watch porno files with electic probes hooked to their genitalia.

The next time any Republican, anywhere accuses a Democrat of playing rough, bring up this ad. Paul R Nelson is Mr. Exploitation, Mr. Fear, and Mr. Xenophobic racist.

In other words, he's the poster boy for Republicans in 2006.

What crap this guy is.

And as for the Marge Simpson quote, he must have taken her words out of context. I happen to know that she is a progressive -- often keeping the ignorance and negligence of her husband in check.

Filthy Republicans even working to smear the Simpsons.

Another commercial in which a seven year-old girl named "Rebecca" is excited about the new baby her mother is going to have, until her mom goes to the doctor and...
Voice Over: Rebecca's mother had a partial birth abortion, and Ron Kind actually supports this procedure.
Now poor Rebecca doesn't have a sister any more.

Paul R Nelson isn't just crazy, he's nauseatingly twisted.

Mark Green's campaign tried to upend the Bloomberg campaign in the NY Mayoral election. The ads ran only days before the election and alleged that Bloomberg told an employee to terminate a pregnancy by 'killing it' -- or something like that. The point is that the ad itself was so repugnant that it actually hurt Green IMO leading to his defeat.

So when does this 'repulsion lashback' ever come back to the reslugs? Will it ever. Does this crap really appeal to the troglodytes?
