Some Al Gore Supporters Are Embarrassing Email Print

I actually read yesterday where an Al Gore fanatic collared Mr. Gore at Seattle University and actually showed him a big picture of her dogs in "Gore sweaters." Come on, people, do you not see how totally embarrassing that is?

This only gives credence to Mr. Gore's remarks about the ignorance of people in regards to what is going on here. And he already is involved in politics as he said he would be... he is the man who is going to be behind the legislation on climate change from states coming forward. He will be the point man from out here who will get it done, because as "President" it will not happen. That is what I believe and if so, I believe it is a brilliant strategy because it is the ISSUE that comes first.

And I don't mean to be rude, but really... Do people REALLY think that after all that has happened and where we find our country now that all they have to do is collar him and show a picture of their dogs and that will melt him about a system he has repeatedly and correctly stated is toxic?

I have to really give him credit for having the grace to deal with this on a daily basis, and having to deal with people who simply cannot see the urgency of this crisis nor where he is in his life right now. The words, "higher calling" I suppose would not even be in their vocabulary. I can even understand people wondering about his aspirations in an adult way, but showing him a picture of your dogs with Gore sweaters on and acting like a rock show groupie? Wow.

And I say some, because when I went to the bookstore in NJ this past July to meet Mr. Gore there was no one standing outside with Gore shirts, or buttons, or dogs with shirts and buttons, or parade floats, sky writing, or anything else. The only thing I saw was a cookie someone had made of the Presidential seal to tell him that he was their President, which I thought was really nice. Most of the talk was about the environment and alternate energy sources.

There were also no embarrassing displays or people looking to collar or harass this man to take the focus off of why he was there, and as a matter of fact the security there was very protective of Mr. Gore and people getting too close to him (which is why I really find the above hard to believe because the day before he had a police escort to the podium at his prop 87 rally in California, and from interviews I have read he has bodyguards as well) and for the most part those who were there were mature adults who discussed the 2000 coup, 9.11 (and everyone discussing 9.11 believed this government knew it was coming.) I was even speaking to a small group of people about what our PAC tried to do (with a few people claiming that they would have signed our petition had they known about it) and then stated that I thought he was too good to be President of this country now... I got agreement across the board on that one.

Of course, people who are really sincere and aren't just put up to it at a public event (like the one above where coincidentally the person made sure to tell the media her name, her age, where she was from, etc., like it was planned) can say they want him to be president. Even I would want that in a system not like this, and if I thought the climate crisis would remain center stage in concert with the issues it effects. However, it is apparent that there are those who are simply political operatives who have other agendas and or can't see beyond black and white, and in my opinion they are hurting his mission with their diversionary dramatics.

I also learned a great deal from my experiences in 2004. I learned that this system is corrupted and that our representatives really do not care about justice. My PAC sent out over four hundred letters to superdelegates and letters after that to the Congressional Black Caucus to ask them to at least stand up and pledge their delegate votes in 2004 to Al Gore in a show of solidarity for him and for the process that was raped in 2000... it wouldn't have hurt Kerry and it wouldn't have done anything to overthrow any "Democratic" process, but we (meaning the American people) got nothing for all of their so called standing up in the Congressional chambers in 2001. All I got was one letter back from a representative on the CBC who wrote, "the button is nice, thankyou." I then thought to myself, they support Al Gore? They care about this Constitution? And the answer was, hell, no.

I saw that it is all just a show and people will support whoever gets put up there because it isn't about heart and soul, ideas and vision, and doing what is moral, it is just about "winning", and to me that is not support for the man and who he is that is putting Party first, and it was detrimental to do so in 2004. That is why I look on some sites for Gore that sat it out in 2004 that are so gung ho now and see what this is really all about: opportunism.

So people can continue to ignore this climate crisis in lieu of being speculative cheerleaders, but in the end they are only perpetuating the closing of the window that we must work to keep open as long as possible for our children. That is the mission Al Gore is on, so pardon me if I don't get all excited over a woman who shows her dogs to Al Gore (if it even happened that way) and gets a response that I am sure he would give because he is simply a man of manners. And if I'm not mistaken, there is talk of a big election coming up in just twelve days. Perhaps those so obsessed with hyping a Presidential campaign to get noticed could focus on the real important events we have coming up first.

Actually, I was really disappointed that
the linked article did not show these dogs
modeling the Gore Sweaters.

Oh, well, hopefully Mr. Gore got a kick out of it, or at least wasn't too embarrassed.
