ALTERNATIVE PLAN TO SOLVING HEALTH CARE CRISIS

An alternative plan to the potential Republican plan for solving the crisis, as discussed in my Diary Entry "SOLVING THE CRISES OF THE UNINSURED," is of course to repeal the trillion dollar tax break and work out some kind of subsidized insurance for these poor people.
As a proud tax and spend liberal, I would go even further and say to start building federal hospitals for the overflow from the private sector. The government could also train and hire the medical care professionals needed to operate these facilities.
This would create a construction boom, as well as thousands of new jobs for medical students. Then, we might be able to care for all these aging Baby Boomers that are already starting to swamp the currently inefficient system.
It's too bad that the ongoing war on terror has become such a primary drain on our capital resources. I don't know how George Bush thought he could push through the enormous tax break and operate this major war in Iraq at the same time.
