GOP Rep. Tom Reynolds (NY-26), Received Most Special Interest Money of Any Candidate

New York 26 -- Leans Dem
(Avg of Last 5 Polls)
Jack Davis (D) -- 49
Tom Reynolds (R)* -- 43

The first thing people in NY's 26th district should remember when entering election booths next week is that Republican Rep. Tom Reynolds subordinated the need to protect America's children in favor of ensuring a safe GOP seat in Florida's 16th district.
Reynolds' Pedophile Protection Policy was in full swing when he persuaded GOP Rep. Mark Foley to run yet again for his Florida congressional seat despite the fact that Reynolds and other Republican leaders had been made aware of Foley's 'inappropriate' e-mails to a teenage congressional page by the page's congressional sponsor, Rep. Rodney Alexander (R-La.).
The second thing you should know is that this is not the only time that Tom Reynolds has abused his privileged position as the congressional representative for Western NY.
Just the other day Reynolds boasted, "I probably talk to Karl Rove two or three times a day." But that line doesn't carry well outside the base.
"Karl Rove is the protector of the party line, not of America," said Johnson, a lawyer and a registered Democrat who has voted for Reynolds in the past but won't this year.Johnson said he was fed up with the Republican Congress, the polarized politics of the Bush era and Reynolds himself. Johnson calls him "part of that power structure."
Of course that's nothing compared to this doozy of hypocrisy:
Not long ago, the Reynolds campaign was outraged by their challenger Jack Davis' acceptance of $3,000 from a political action committee citing a pledge by Davis during their last race, where Davis said he wouldn't take PAC money.
The Reynolds campaign failed to rationalize how their last race had anything to do with this race, but as you will see, it's entirely beside the point.
For as you might have guessed, it is REYNOLDS who "has taken more money from special interests than any other candidate in the nation over the last month."
More special interest money than ANY OTHER CANDIDATE!
Reynolds... took in about $500,000 from Oct. 1 to Oct. 18, $270,000 of which has come from political action committees representing a wide variety of politician interests. The Reynolds campaign has received $231,000 from individuals in that same time period.By comparison, Reynolds' Democratic opponent, millionaire Jack Davis, who is running a mainly self-funded campaign, has taken $23,299 from individuals and $3,050 from PACs.
The Reynolds campaign attempted to rationalize their obscene level of special interest dollars by pointing out that they also had a lot of individual contributions. They failed to explain, however, what 'individual' contributions had to do with their shameless solicitation to special interests.
And the Davis campaign opined:
...the donations are evidence Reynolds is "bought and paid for by special interests sending our jobs overseas.""He does not represent the people of Western New York," Ellis said. "He represents the Washington insiders and lobbyists who are working against the best interest of the people of Western New York."
