Bush Didn't Know About the Port Deal!

President Bush was unaware of the pending sale of shipping operations at six major U.S. seaports to a state-owned business in the United Arab Emirates until the deal already had been approved by his administration, the White House said Wednesday.
So let's get this straight: he didn't know about it until after the fact, but stresses that every "i" was dotted and "t" was crossed.
Which is basically a load of crap. Donald Rumsfeld, a sitting member, wasn't even aware of the details. And Dick Cheney has been too busy covering his butt to give much imput.
So basically, the three top federal executive in charge of keeping this country safe either don't remember or didn't know about one of the most questionable deals in involving our borders and our safety.
1. Bush could care less about border security.
Between his fuzzy immigration policy (which even republicans aren't 100% behind) and this port sale, the President has effectively shown that border saftey isn't a concern. While I understand that the UAE won't control the actual sercurity checkpoint and the like at these points, it's stupid to think that they couldn't try to slip something through. After all, ABC did and succeded.
2. America's addiction to oil will not end.
One of Bush's lame promises was that, with his relationships with the oil barons of the world, gas would be super-cheap. Well, going to Iraq all but crushed hopes of that happening. However, there was still a sliver of hope that Bush's connections with those in the UAE would help curb rising costs. But when you combine this dea with Bush's SOTU address (where he basically blamed the American people for the promblem), it doesn't look like we'll be using wheat grass to gas up anytime soon.
3. The end to all this can come sooner than we think.
And by that I mean this mind-numbing, five-year meth bender we've come to know as the Bush Presidency. He says he'll veto and legislation aimed at stopping the port deal he knew nothing about. But he must have fogotten that little-known political foil called the "override." If Congress can pass an overwhelming vote to cancel this deal (and during an election year, you better believe they will), Bush will be faced with either preforming his first veto ever (and risk getting slapped with an override) or seriously ticking off his oil buddies and letting the whole issue side. We all know who's really paying his bills, so it'll be interesting to see this scenario play out.
In fact, this whole thing has been one big Jerry Bruckhiemer film. Let's just hope that the good guys win.
