Iraq Aready in Civil War, says PM Allawi Email Print

What was that you were saying, Donald?  Things are going great in Iraq?  The media is exaggerating the problems, the country is doing well, and violence is decreasing.  Those talking about civil war are just helping the terrorists.

Well, tell it to the PM.  In this case, former Iraqi PM Iyad Allawi.  In an interview with the BBC, Allawi says

"It is unfortunate that we are in civil war. We are losing each day as an average 50 to 60 people throughout the country, if not more.

"If this is not civil war, then God knows what civil war is."

The man America put in place as Iraqi prime minister says Iraq is in civil war.  Looks like PM Allawi just joined the ranks of those radical left wingers who are pulling for the terrorists.

Allawi also mentions that a national unity government is no sue promise of an improvement in the situation, and that unless things improve soon, they could easily spiral completely out of control.
Iraq is moving towards the "point of no return", he said, when the country would fragment and sectarianism would spread throughout the region.

Think he's going to get another White House invite any time soon?

What Allawi's statements show is that the reality on the ground has little or nothing to do with the fantasy that Bush and Rumsfeld are spinning.  Rather than looking determined, or even plain old stubborn, the Bush team is proving itself completely delusional.

More than likely, the Bush Administration will denounce or spin Allawi's statements.

Good find, DT.

the moron whose bright idea was to ship Yaser Esam Hamdi from Guanatanamo Bay Cuba into judge Robert G. Doumar's courtroom in Norfolk Va `cause the ploy did not work. Oh he was looking good on individual rights. But he drew too much attention to himself. Folks started looking into his background and found out he did not give a rats a## about the Constitution or individual rights.

There was a reason Chief Justice Rehnquist went out in a pine box.

Well, Rumsfeld is RIGHT! Who's this guy "Allawi"? Just another Iraqi right? Oh, he was the prime minister appointed by the Bush administration! You know what dumbos they are, so their appointees must be too. Keep denying the reality Rumsfeld, until it bumps you a black eye.

I'm sure Allawi doesn't get the reports that cross Rumsfeld and Bush's desks.  He's just going by silly things like the evidence of his own eyes, and the statements of people in Iraq.

In any case, it's not a civil war until we say it's a civil war.  Or until Ken Burns shoots a documentary, whichever comes first.
