Cheney and Bush, an Arrogant Duo Playing with a Stacked Deck

When a deck is stacked the bully beneficiaries can get away with murder. Once again, this is a terrain with which the sordid duo of Cheney and Bush are highly familiar.
After all, once you have developed a penchant for rigging elections without being held accountable, the arrogant glow that follows is justifiable and anticipated, as is the escalation of conduct extending to the ultimate trashing of the U.S. Constitution.
In order for Cheney and Bush to succeed to this degree it was necessary for real opposition to vanish in the political system. Candidates willing to challenge them were ridiculed by the mainstream corporate media as unelectable and too far to the left to capture the votes of independents and swing Democrats.
After the votes were all presumptively counted and a discrepancy of 6 percent between exit poll results and the posted figures emerged, as well as a series of horror stories emanating from Ohio and elsewhere amid numerous voting machine controversies, what did the Massachusetts Skull and Bones brother of Texas Bush do? He conceded, later explaining that he did not want to be perceived as a "sore loser."
So here is how it goes. You nominate a candidate from the establishment since otherwise the media will not take you seriously. You play it safe. Then after the smoke clears and Bush emerges with more popular votes when respected mathematicians conclude that this is well nigh impossible, you concede because that is the safe course of action.
How did the enfeebled Democratic Party quasi opposition respond to the siren calls from those convinced that the Diebold brigade and their loyal comrades in arms had stolen another election? James Carville and Stanley Greenberg undertook a focus group study to learn why Karl Rove has been so successful at winning recent elections.
There is nothing like a focus group to present an appearance of action while, in reality, the timid Democrats have in reality withdrawn from the fray. What is that magic phrase? Say it one more time - You play it safe!
The play it safe refrain reverberated once more this week in the wake of an assessment of what has transpired as a result of timidity. The arrogant Cheney-Bush duo has been exposed for corruption, deceit and dictatorial behavior.
This week's news has furthered concerns about the tragedy in the land that is reverberating throughout the world. Not even the Fox Republican media circus could put out these fires.
Now it has been revealed that some 100,000 Iraqi families have been displaced in the wake of sustained sectarian fighting. This is the identical figure to that of the estimated Iraqi deaths resulting from the shock and awe campaign unleashed against the Middle East nation based on a series of distortions based on Saddam Hussein constituting an imminent danger to U.S. security.
At the same time that death and destruction persist at an accelerating level in Iraq, resulting from a trashing of international law, another report revealed a trashing of the Bill of Rights with the revelation that last year the FBI actively stepped up the pace on invading the privacy of American citizens without obtaining search warrants.
The Cheney-Bush totalitarian machine could not have reached this excessive level of brutal realization had it not been for the complicity of inaction resulting from the so-called Democratic Party opposition. Rather than responding to the ruling Junta's excesses through the impeachment process we see a brigade of timid souls telling us not to worry since there is always another election.
That's right, another election, just like the 2000 and 2004 presidential contests. They were inspiring triumphs of democracy, weren't they? Shall we look forward to more of the same?
