Political Cortex: Brain Food for the Body Politic

Bowman's opponent in the15th District is incumbent Congressman Dave Weldon.  Despite running a website that presents Weldon as a veritable St. Francis of Assisi, Weldon's track record reveals a different story.  Weldon has been a close ally of Tom DeLay and, despite the camouflage, has a voting record on par with the infamous Texas congressman and Newt Gingrich.

Whereas Dave Weldon, a medical doctor, has bought into the fraudulent special interest HMO payoff known euphemistically as Bush's prescription drug benefits package, Bowman provides a clear alternative that should merit praise from progressives.  Bowman has endorsed a Single Payer National Health Program.  

For such a long time those of us endorsing the Single Payer proposal in line with Canada's successful plan, that has been distorted by much of the mainstream media, have felt like voices crying in the wilderness, but take heart!  There are some worthy candidates such as Dr. Bob Bowman who feel likewise.  

It is up to the citizenry to provide these candidates with the support required to take the proposal to the next step and hopefully to ultimate legislative success.  It is time for less "me-toosim" and tiptoeing away from the burning issues, such as health care.  

America stands at its most dangerous ever crossroad.  It is time to send qualified candidates of courage and decency such as Dr. Bob Bowman to Washington to take the kind of immediate action needed during a time of dire constitutional crisis.

For those of you who are holding two or more jobs while your spouses are in a comparable position, Bowman feels your pain.  He seeks to end the kind of socialism for the rich handouts that the Cheney-Bush Junta have made available to the nation's wealthiest Americans in the form of tax cuts while the vast majority of American citizens tread water at best.  

Bowman also has taken a strong stand against outsourcing.  He seeks an end to the tragedy of globalization and application of decent and equitable standards on the World Trade Organization.  The Halliburton-Bechtel multinational axis and the Project for the New American Century crowd bullishly supports Weldon for reelection.

They have enriched Weldon's campaign coffers.  It is up to concerned citizens to even up the playing field and make the difference in Bowman's campaign.

Another issue of immense importance to progressives on which Bowman has taken a strong stand is in the area of seeking the truth about what really happened on 9/11.  He is a member of Scholars for 9/11 Truth, an organization founded by James H. Fetzer in January 2006.  

Dr. Bowman is a candidate willing to speak his mind, as evidenced by the following statement, which underlies the concern so many in the progressive movement feel over the capture of the U.S. government by the unelected Cheney-Bush Ruling Junta:

"As a pilot I flew 101 combat missions in Vietnam, I can tell you that the best thing our government can do for its combat veterans is to quit making more of them.  Peace is patriotic; a preemptive war is immoral, illegal, unconstitutional, a war crime, and TREASON.  

"I swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic.  That includes a renegade president.  Wake up, America!  It is time for George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and the whole oil mafia to be removed from office and indicted for TREASON."
