Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Director of Operations, Christopher Stokes, describes over the phone from Beirut what he has seen traveling to the south of Lebanon and back.
"I entered into Lebanon three days ago and went straight to the south to join our teams there. As we made our way further and further into the south what we saw was two kinds of Lebanon. You have the Lebanon of the mountains, the Shouf, which has for the moment been spared by the conflict but is receiving lots of displaced. Tens of thousands of people are settling there in collective centers and schools."And then as we moved out of the mountains further to the south, closer to where the fighting as been taking place, you have a huge area of land, 50 or 60 kilometers deep from the border, where there has been shelling, where bombs landed on motorways and apartment blocks, and there a lot of people have fled.
"You enter into these towns that appear to be ghost towns, but actually 30 or 40 percent of the population have stayed but they are living in their apartments behind the shutters and they are not getting out. They are also not getting out to seek medical assistance. They are very isolated for the moment. They are definitely a population in need, as well as the wounded.

Why is it that the killing of innocent Israelis is terrorism, but killing innocent Lebanese is not? It is ALL terrorism. And now aid cannot get through to these people? This is not the proper response to soldiers being captured. This clearly is an act of war and revenge on the part of Israel as well as a violation of International law by BOTH parties in this, and the reason I mention this is because you would expect better from a supposed "Democratic" nation.
I do not support any nation or terrorist group that targets, terrorizes, and kills innocent civilians and children, and yes, I do think the President of Lebanon and other Islamic nations in the Middle East should be calling for Hezbollah to cease and desist its shelling as well for the sake of its people as well as other innocents. As I stated previously, there is no moral high ground here, and it is always the innocent civilians that get caught in the middle.
And I trust the news as reported from Doctors Without Borders, because they are a nonpartisan nonpolitical organization that helps people all over the world. But I am sure that even they will be called anti-semitic by some for telling the truth about the situation on the ground in Tyre. So much hate. Well, I'm sending twenty dollars to Doctors Without Borders tomorrow to help them in their efforts. If you also feel so inclined, please do so.
Those who hate any one side and do nothing but precipitate more violence with their cheerleading to appease their own bloodlust should be ashamed of themselves. It is bad enough that Congress's putting political expedience and votes over principle will now only make more recruits for these terrorist organizations, thus putting more innocents at risk.
It is clear to see that neither side really wants peace, because if Israel wanted peace it would simply stop, and Hezbollah would stop as well. But of course, that isn't what they really want because they are both puppets for regimes making good from all of this death and destruction, and it is sickening and shameful to watch this play out while Europe and America goad it on and bully the UN and other nations to go along with their international blackmail.
There isn't enough soap and water in this world to wash away all of the blood they have on their hands.

Using phosphorus weapons on children? Where the hell is the moral high ground here?
