Great Example Of Why Al Gore Won't Run Email Print

And the groups that perpetuate it with their political speculation.

"Do not fear the enemy, for your enemy can only take your life. It is far better that you fear the media, for they will steal your Honor. That awful power, the public opinion of a nation, is created in America by a horde of ignorant, self-complacent simpletons who failed at ditching and shoemaking and fetched up in journalism on their way to the poorhouse." Mark Twain.
The media attack on Al Gore's lifestyle is a concerted and deliberate attempt to move the focus off of the climate crisis, and is exactly the tactic that has and will make it impossible to have a focused campaign for any political office. Of course, the DIEBOLDED voting machines, the military/industrial complex status quo that really runs this country, and the fact that in my view the nominee for 2008 has already been picked by the Party heads is simply filler to all of this.

The corporate media however has not changed at all in its approach to Al Gore. Take the attack piece that Peter Schweizer of the Hoover Institute wrote two weeks ago that is still making the rounds, and was printed in the SF Chronicle this past Sunday even after Mr. Gore's office responded to it in USA Today (which was put on page 10A and in my honest view was a week too late in coming.) This is simply how it is going to continue to be done, and I don't believe there is much anyone can do about it besides writing letters that won't get published, or stuffed in a section where they won't be seen. Of course, some of those who support the man could actually go out and join his cause in standing up with him for the important issue he is talking about instead of using it for political mileage for themselves like the media does, but I suppose that isn't exciting enough for some of them either... and the cycle then continues.

The media in this country is just too damned strong with its corporate backers and there simply is not an adequate comeback machine to challenge them for all of the talk that there would be. So again, this is what I mean about "draft" people spinning their wheels. They are spinning them in the wrong direction. They want Al Gore to run again in this corrupted system and expose himself to this kind of BS on a DAILY basis, but they either can't or won't stand up to the machine that assures that business will be as it always was. Make sense? Not to me. And what would those who support him be doing DAILY if he were to ever be dragged down in the putrid mud again? Responding to horse manure like this! Do you then see how the ISSUES get left by the side of the road? How the political process then deteriorates the debate down to a few soundbites and a constant berage of mudslinging, back and forth, tit for tat BS? Again, how does that do any good for anything in the way of progress?

Nothing is going to change the way the media or politics does business unless it falls like Mordor in Lord of the Rings/Return of the King... and that movie was a fantasy. There aren't enough people in this country willing or able to stand up to the behemoth beast we have allowed to be born out of years of ignoring it unless we try to beat it at its own game. And this is why I respect Al Gore so much. That is what he is trying to do with CURRENT, and also with An Inconvenient Truth.

However, I don't see anybody on other more "popular" Gore sites even discussing the huge impact that station and others like them can have on this corporate media if we used it to its full advantage, and that is where you have to start! That is why I call people to support his endeavors, because by doing so you are giving the finger to the status quo. However again, from those who claim to want to "draft" him, not a word about CURRENT. And why not? Again, it doesn't serve their purpose.

Don't then wonder why attempts to draft this man to go back in the very system that spit him out before will be seen as suspect and egotistical by some. As a matter of fact, one so called draft site is actually sending people out to movie theatres playing an Inconvenient Truth and getting people to sign up to join their POLITICAL website. Not to tell them how to join in the fight to save their planet and "disenthrall themselves", but to join a website to give them money. They are also making people deliberately believe that the movie is tied to them and that this is a political movie. They only seem to care about numbers and not substance. They only seem to care about raising money by using this movie that they aren't even accountable for. How does that help Al Gore and this cause now?

So again, don't wonder when you see articles like Peter Schweizer's in the media. Of course they will continue to write this pap and pawn it off as journalism, because the signals they are getting from "political" organizations infringing on the importance of this issue and this movie for all that claim to support Al Gore is that it IS political business as usual. The shills writing this tripe don't give two farts in the wind about the climate crisis, but they do care about using it for political gain. I submit then that groups that couldn't wait until after midterms or at least until Mr. Gore made the so called "Sherman statement" they need to hear before starting any draft movement are indeed selfish. Starting so soon simply put the speculation out there even more, thus taking away from the sincere message Mr. Gore is trying to convey to others who need to know that there is no selfish political motivation behind this movie.

These groups have then done more harm than good at this time in their continuation of a selfish endeavor that does not seek change regarding how people live their lives for the betterment of their planet, but is a cheap political tactic to seek attention for themselves. And in the process, it makes standing up to the RW garbage all the more harder because the signals are already out there. We should be debating the problem and how WE are going to solve it, but where is it? It really is so disappointing to see it deteriorating to this. But honestly, it really isn't surprising.

Mr. Gore has stated numerous times that the political system is toxic and he couldn't be more correct on that score. That is why we as supporters of this man, but more importantly we who truly care for the future and this planet see that the political angle needs to be kept out of this. But the damage has already been done ironically not only by the RW shills and whores for EXXON, but also by groups that claim they support him but continue to perpetuate the very political speculation BS that contributes to this garbage being written in the first place. And as someone who is sincere as many others are about facing this climate crisis and is grateful to Mr. Gore for taking this on, all of this rhetoric on all sides is very disappointing, because in the end it neither serves the planet nor the people well.

Looks like some feathers were ruffled with this. And wow, I only told the truth and didn't even mention the site by name. More than you get from RW trash. This also isn't trashing (especially since a couple members of their own site expressed the same opinion about canvassing people outside theatres and giving false impressions,) this is called expressing an opinion. Seems the person who got so rankled by an opinion that she actually posted what I wrote on their site as if I'm as much of a threat as Peter Schweizer who she probably didn't write to ONCE, doesn't know what being trashed really means.

Again, so people will understand the reason for this post: using this movie for a political agenda does no good in helping Mr. Gore look credible regarding the message he is sincerely trying to get out, and imo which I can write, perpetuates the BS we are now seeing from the RW. If you can't stand up to the machine that runs it all, and get caught only using it for your own advantage, don't get all out of sorts when people call you on it.

Perhaps those who are so flustered by this could get as flustered when it comes to standing up for the man who is the real one being trashed in all of this which then means the message is getting trashed as well. And after waiting thirty plus years for it to be center stage where it belongs, I will damn well give my opinions as I see fit when I see that message being threatened by any side's selfish political intentions.
