NY-03: Peter King is an Asshole! (Episode 10)

Almost every year since the tragic attacks on our country on September 11, 2001 Congress has come together in a bipartisan fashion to remember those who passed, honor first responders and pay condolences to grieving families. Today, Peter King is introducing a similar resolution on the floor of Congress, but in an attempt to politicize the anniversary, garner attention during his difficult election campaign and divide members of Congress he, as the resolutions primary sponsor, is including divisive language that is purely Republican political propaganda."Peter King's attempt to politicize the anniversary of the September 11 attacks is reprehensible. The people of Long Island will not stand for these cheap election year stunts," said Mejias. "Peter King is leading the charge in this Republican controlled Congress to create divisions and play political games instead of working hard to ensure our nation's security and honor the fallen.
[snip]
Peter King's proposed language is absolutely atrocious. If you can believe it, he actually mentions the Republicans proposed Immigration "Reform" bill (the one that reforms immigrations by declaring all immigrants to be felons):
The controversy lies in lines 37 and 42 of the resolution authored by Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y. After honoring the heroism of the passengers and crew on United Flight 93, and the memory of the 3,000 murdered victims, the resolution pats Congress on the back for some of its accomplishments in battling terrorism since that fateful day. Line 37 notes the reauthorization of the Patriot Act in 2006, and line 42 mentions the House immigration bill of 2005.
The immigration bill? In a resolution paying tribute to 9/11? Ridiculous. Does New York's Third District really want such a divisive buffoon representing it? It's about time they had a Congressman who is not, in fact, an asshole.
Let's help kick the asshole out of office. Contribute to his Democratic opponent, Dave Mejias, through his ActBlue account, today.
