Political Cortex: Brain Food for the Body Politic

    The problem with the new Christians, and the Republicans, is they think they can design and orchestrate the construction of the Kingdom of God, right here on earth, in THIS time, BEFORE its time. Even though Jesus went to great lengths to explain that this would never take place until AFTER HE RETURNS!
    But the Christian leaders think they can sneak enough Republicans into office, and the Republican Party at their behest thinks they can pass enough laws to make this a totalitarian government, with no freedoms or civil rights. Then you're FORCED to convert to their lifestyle, or else end up being in prison or deported or even executed! There are some who are even throwing around the idea of the DEATH PENALTY for homosexual sex! They're ALREADY trying to make adultery a felony, and I'm sure that the next step would be to make premarital sex equally as culpable.
    But if they look through their bibles a little more closely, they will see that there will be NO paradise (THEIR idea of paradise) on earth in the LAST DAYS, which they so vehemently insist are upon us. In fact, things are only going to get a lot worse and worse: wars, plagues, famines, judgements, natural disasters---you name it, and people will be suffering from it. And you talk about global warming; the bible says that "The day is coming that shall burn like an oven," and I DON'T think it means NUCLEAR WAR, like many people do.
    The bible explains that in the last days, the world will be filled with violence, like it already is, and that men will be lovers of themselves, and lovers of pleasure. Can lovers of pleasure find any pornography on the Internet?  In this time, there are also mockers of the Second Coming of Christ (like comedian/commentator Bill Maher, for example), etc., etc.  Nowhere does it say that America the Beautiful will be an exception, because it hosts so many good Christians. In fact, you're hard pressed to find any vague reference to our country in the complete text of the Holy Scriptures
    So there will BE no great Christian society before Jesus comes back to kick some butts; HE will be the one to set up his own Kingdom, according to the blueprints of the Christian Right's own belief system.
    And like I've explained before, God has given us free will, so we can live in sin if we want to, as long as we understand that we'll suffer the torments of hell for all eternity in exchange. So leave people alone, the great commission may well be finished, and there IS such a thing as being beyond or incapable of redemption.
    I view this effort as a hostile takeover of this country by the Christian Right, yet they have no right to do this.
    So just sit back, and say your prayers, you people, and plead for Jesus to return as soon as possible. Let the liberals have a field day. After all, the liberals only have a relatively short time to enjoy themselves, while you'll have all eternity in glory and bliss. It is written that once in heaven, you'll just sing praises all the livelong day, if that makes you happy. But some people recoil at the idea of spending the whole day in church.
You won't even need to have elections, because Jesus will be King, and everyone will be a Republican, OR SO YOU THINK! But unless you cease and desist, just don't count on it!
    Because there may be another passage in the bible which you have also overlooked---namely the part where many so-called Christians plead with Jesus after they have been judged for damnation---"LORD, LORD! Did not we prophesy in your name? Did not we work many wonders, and have all the biggest ministries," and so on and so forth.
    But Jesus says, "Depart from me, you workers of iniquity, I NEVER KNEW YOU!" Because you were so busy telling people what to do, and abhorring gays, and taking away rights, and forcing your own fears and opinions on others, that your hearts were never actually filled with the love of Christ. So take a pill out and chill out, if that what it takes to have you relent.
