Why Is It Al Gore's DUTY To Run? Email Print

Thank God more and more people are actually getting it regarding the fact that it is THEY who now need to be taking action on the climate crisis instead of sitting on blogs all day calling for Al Gore to do it and challenging his patriotism because he isn't running for President (or at least at present not planning on it.) I still honestly don't get what that is all about.

Is it a defense mechanism on the part of those who incessantly do nothing on blogs but write about HIS DUTY instead of their own? Are they truly living in denial? That they dare to say he is not leading now? That he will not be a great man continuing doing the good work he is doing for our planet? That he will be a has been if he doesn't run in 2008? Good Lord, and these are supposed 'Gore supporters' stating these things, so can you imagine what others are saying?

Mr. Gore just can't win, can he?

The man has now stood up against the status quo and has made an impact BECAUSE he isn't constrained by the BS beltway and is getting out a truth that is thirty years in the making because the very people who now pine for him weren't listening all those years... but that isn't good enough for them.

He has now done what NO POLITICIAN in Washington DC can or will now do because he now has the best of both worlds to influence events political and otherwise, and yet some people on political blogs still shun him for it by saying it isn't good enough because he isn't living their electoral fantasy.

Well, here is a little reality for you: THE EARTH IS MELTING around us NOW with that tipping point ever closer if not already here, and it is not waiting for all of the speculative wasteful talk to be over.

Maybe they need to sell a reality pill on the Internet so that once the person takes one they actually see the reality of just what this planet is now experiencing firsthand that isn't waiting for all of the inconsequential speculation to be completed. Perhaps then there would be more time spent now by us actually taking action as citizens rather than droning on Internet blogs about who else must do this or that for them, or what their DUTY is.

I really have to laugh at people who now say Mr. Gore has a DUTY to run. Since when? Since he was kicked to the curb by a party leadership and political system they all still support? Since it is now convenient for them to support him because their man isn't running? Since it seems easier to support him now because he has a book and movie out? Um, another newsflash for you then: that isn't support, that is political buttkissing, and at this point it is looking really desperate on the part of some who simply don't seem to get why Mr. Gore is out here doing what he is doing.

He doesn't have to do ANYTHING for you, me, or anyone else, but he is anyway in a big way... but that apparently isn't good enough for those who don't get it. After over a quarter century in politics beating his head on a brick wall about a crisis that  is just now getting attention because he isn't a "politician" preaching for self aggrandizement but a statesman and environmentalist warning us sincerely, they still don't seem to think he knows himself and what he wishes to do and what he believes is best to accomplish what must be done now.

To be perfectly honest, if I now had to choose between him running in this co-opted bought and sold system where how you look is more important than what is in your mind and heart as opposed to him remaining out here as a free unencumbered man who could make a sequel to An Inconvenient Truth, and keep writing books, and keep on getting the truth out and making definitive progress on it, I would pick the latter, because I do get it. ( So please, Mr. Gore make that sequel!)

He is already doing more than enough in that vein which may very well save this planet should people actually listen to him this time, and the attitude of some political operatives and media talking heads that it is HIS DUTY to run is one good reason now why this country is in the hands of Fascists and our planet is headed towards the tipping point. At what point do the words OUR DUTY come into play here? At this rate we will all be kneedeep in seawater or worse before anyone wakes up, and then it WILL be too late.

Al Gore (and hopefully more people every day) sees that and has the paramount vantage point to try to get people to remember why they are here. Maybe some should think about that for a while, but don't take too long, because that window closes more every day those that do nothing but pine shirk their duty as citizens of this planet by living in denial.

This is happening now. The Ayles ice shelf broke off at a 40 mile stretch about 16 months ago.

The size of 11,000 football fields. And since it happened 16 months ago, that means almost another year and half has gone by with this melting continuing to go on.

WHERE ARE WE GOING HERE? We need action. And the time is NOW.
