Political Cortex: Brain Food for the Body Politic

As McGuinty struck a victory pose for the Canadian media after his victory was assured, his slender, telegenic demeanor alongside an equivalent one of his attractive blonde wife made many Americans reflect on the team of John F. and Jacqueline Kennedy and how well they were received within the international community.  

The bad news is that it made Americans also think of the current image of a red-faced, glassy-eyed, clueless appearing George W. Bush facing cameras in his steady war of attrition with American democracy.  

McGuinty's limelight position as premier of the major Canadian province that includes cosmopolitan, vote rich Toronto prompts observers to wonder if he has just the right stuff to emerge as a major national party leader reflective of the dynamism of a Pierre Trudeau.

Canada needs to be wrested from the grip of current prime minister and Bush ally Steven Harper, who shares many ideas with Bush, including the continuation of the tragic war in Iraq.

Just as McGuinty is a breath of fresh air looking forward to a brighter Canadian future, Harper is reflective of the retrogressive philosophy of an ally of the elder George Bush, former Conservative Party Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.

McGuinty and leaders like him represent the positive voices of Canada's future.  Harper and Mulroney hearken back to a dismal, trouble ridden past for Canadians.
