American Dissatisfaction and the Peaceful Grassroots Revolution, Part 3 Email Print

In my previous diary, I discussed how we Americans can channel our dissatisfaction with the current government of the United States by choosing to vote for a lesser-known presidential candidate who represents us much more accurately. Specifically, I described the attractive qualities of Texas Representative Ron Paul, whom independent polling sources indicate is way ahead of the mega-corporate-funded, multimillionaire media puppets in popularity. But some people do disagree with Paul on different issues such as taxes, poverty, and foreign aid; in addition, his Republican affiliation might make some independents and Democrats uncomfortable. No one else with Ron Paul's visibility comes close to representing intelligent and principled Americans. So is Paul the only viable option for America?

Not at all. Here is more good news to lift the spirits of my fellow troubled Americans. Hiding within the lower tier of American federal politics, that realm which has been created by the Fox/CNN media blackout, is a whole slew of little-known presidential candidates who are not, as Jason Miller put it, "controlled by the money masters". These candidates number more than one hundred persons from every state in the Union. They represent every possible shade and hue of political thought from Nazism (ugh!) to Prohibition (a failed Christian fundamentalist experiment) to Communism (believe it or not) to New Age (yuck).

This diverse group of Americans, hailing from a remarkable variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds, most of whom have lower-middle-class incomes and humble occupations, is circumventing the corrupt corporate-media-political system and slowly becoming known. After all, it is not difficult to run for president if you so desire. All you have to do it file a few papers with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and pay them $1000, and you are officially a candidate for president of the great United States of America.

Alongside the weird characters in this bunch exists a significant subgroup of several dozen independent-minded, intelligent Middle American candidates with down-home integrity and true potential. From this noteworthy array of nonpartisan individuals, one candidate in particular stands head and shoulders above the rest. Could this candidate actually be better than Ron Paul?

**To be continued in my next Diary.**
