Wexler Passes 100,000 Mark! Wants Quarter Million Impeachment Supporters! Email Print

Congressman Robert Wexler indicated that he hoped he would receive at least 50,000 signatures of support online when he announced along with House Judiciary Committee colleagues his intention to bring before that body the subject of impeaching George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

Since that initial announcement support has reached levels that enabled Wexler to double his initial expectation as he has just passed the 100,000 milestone.  He now is hopeful of receiving 250,000 signatures of support in his effort and anticipates initiating action before the end of the year.

It is significant to note that when Congressman Wexler approached the mainstream media about running his announcement as an op-ed piece that he was spurned by those stalwarts of the mainstream media, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe and USA Today.

Perhaps those prestigious publications were miffed at Wexler for not supplying something currently newsworthy about the exploits of Britney Spears or Paris Hilton rather than concerning himself with saving the U.S. Constitution and American democracy.

The only mainstream publication willing to print Wexler's vital message was the leading newspaper in his home state of Florida, the Miami Herald, which ran an edited version of his op-ed in its "Letters to the Editors" section.

It is time for the people to take a stand and ignore the tired establishment voices of the Joe Kleins, Tom Friedmans and George Wills and unite to end a regime of deceit and corruption in which the U.S. Constitution has been more than trashed and assaulted.

The Constitution has been removed from the current system of government in which neoconservative marauders hijack democracy and substitute an Orwellian vision of suppression of the many by the few.

Congressman Wexler will appear live on blogtgalkradio.com Thursday, December 20, at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

The petition appears to be picking up several thousand signatures a day, without any help from the media.
I regard the impeachment issue as crucial: Bush-Cheney are clearly setting things up now so they can rule from beyond the grave - gigantic profits and power for their associates for decades from the Iraq Production Sharing Agreement and No Child Left Behind.
Today's issue is Impeachment, not gossip about the candidates.

While the mainstream media evaluates debating performances and nitpicks away over joint appearances on national TV the real issue remains impeachment.

So Harry Reid barks that impeachment people should back off because we've got a presidential election scheduled next year.

Sure thing, Harry.  We had elections in 2000 and 2004 and the guy perpetuating every type of ruthless tyranny didn't win either one of those elections.  We know about the Federalist Society Bobsey Twins of Scalia and Thomas who put him in in 2000 and we know about the machines, Ohio, and the unrefuted Exit Poll figures in 2004.

We need serious overhaul and that means impeachment.  We need to get the proponents of continuing tyranny, namely Bush and Cheney, out of office for the sake of America as well as the rest of the world.

How safe do you feel with Cheney's 1 percent rule and a bunch of combative ex-Trotskyite neocons running amok, deciding which country to attack next?

What is the remedy?  It's impeachment!

As of Christmas eve, the Wexler petition has about 132,000 signatures. The growth appears to be linear, not exponential, but this could change after the holidays. The petition is at http://www.wexlerwantsheari ngs.com/.

and let us hope that the momentum continues because this is the supreme issue, tied in so closely to the Iraq War and our Bill of Rights freedoms.
