What has the Iraq War Really Accomplished?

By July 2008 half of the British troops will return. Now the same question must be asked of the American people. The 2006 election issue was the American public's demand that the Iraq War end. Placing the Democrats in power was thought to be the answer.
Tragically the Democrats joined the Republican robot Congress in extending the Iraq War with no stated end in sight.
Why was the 70 billion plus funding of the continuation of the Iraq War extension approved? Only the conscience of each individual House member can answer that.
Can they realize for one split second what they have repeatedly condoned continuing with no end in sight?
Was it worth seeing Christians persecuted and forced to flee after having been able to exist in Iraq for hundreds of years?
Was it worth seeing over 3,800 plus U.S. service personnel perish and be returned in flag-draped coffins usually not shown on TV?
Was it worth the suffering and pain of over 55,000 combatants and non-combatants losing arms or legs and in desperation realizing that many have committed suicide, and for what?
Can you enjoy your Christmas holidays knowing your responsibility for not only launching a war on lies and misrepresentations?
Where is the freedom, where is the democracy that the Republican leadership so often boasts about with grandiose parades and flying flags?
The oil pipelines that the public was told would pay for rebuilding Iraq have been hit 150 times according to CNN.
The people who will pay for the Iraq War are American taxpayers. With the greatest national debt in U.S. history was have far surpassed all the national debts combined since the U.S. was founded.
Approximately 2 million homes in foreclosure because banks made substandard loans to people unable to pay on these mortgages. Meanwhile Bush and the Republican administration congratulate themselves over holiday drinks and dinners for a job well done!
Who will finish the job of putting the U.S. government back on track in 2008?
According to a CNN report, mortgage foreclosures are running as high as during the Great Depression. Many Americans now face the ugly reality of the economic achievements of this awful administration that has made its pathetic mark by kowtowing to the rich and leaving everyone else behind.
Homelessness is on the increase. Food banks in some cities have had to close as their cupboards are bare and for a split second think about the kind of holidays Iraqi refugees in Syria, Iran, Jordan and Iraq itself are going through.
Thanks a lot for all of this!
As our dollar cataclysmically shrinks in free fall against foreign currencies and as Arabs and Chinese buy U.S. bonds to keep us going economically, remember this.
Please, no matter how much money lobbyists provide to your congressional campaigns, you cannot remove the blood-drenched stain you have left on U.S. history generated by the death, destruction and debt of the Iraq War!
