Bush, Cheney and Rice -- No Dream Team, That's for Sure!

This Iraq War analysis was written by Wayne Evans of Bothell, Washington in a letter to the editor of the Seattle Times that appeared January 31, 2007. Evans asked succinctly in concluding his letter if cheerleaders for the Iraq War were 1. Crazy. 2. Liars. 3. Supremely stupid.
Evans surmised all three. He felt that the only way to have accountability was to have open hearings to determine who was responsible for the tragedy of the Iraq War. That would be a vital necessity of a functioning democracy.
Aren't democracy and freedom the reasons why George Bush periodically insists U.S. service personnel are dying for daily in Iraq? But even for one serviceman or woman to die or be injured in the unneeded Iraq War calls into serious question why all that applause was unleashed while Bush delivered his State of the Union speech.
Was that applause for George Bush's leadership in plunging us into this bloody spectacle generated by all those phony fears that those non-existent weapons of mass destruction were an imminent threat to us?
Was the applause for the Time Magazine, February 12, 2007 Notebook report: "50,505 Number of wounded American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs."
Just below that total number of war injured, combatants and non-combatants were segregated:
"21,649 Number of wounded troops listed on the website as of January 10, after it corrected an error that included non-combat injuries."
Nevertheless, in the final analysis a total of 50,505 U.S. service personnel have been injured and will require medical and potential mental assistance after returning from Bush's misbegotten mission.
Over 3,000 U.S. service personnel came home in flag-draped coffins.
A John Hopkins estimate of the number of Iraqis killed is 655,000.
Two million Iraqis have fled to Jordan. Every day Iraqis flee to foreign countries.
Is this staggering death and injury toll anything to applaud?
Did Bush's much publicized "shock and awe" Iraq attack deserve applause?
When Bush dramatically declared, wearing a flight suit, on a naval carrier, "Mission accomplished!" while the Iraq War raged on, did that deserve applause?
At that point Bush became a pathetic laughing stock for the entire world!
Congress, have you no shame or sorrow for the hell on earth you have caused?
Instead of any applause, there should have been one hour of solemn silence, asking whatever you believe to be the Almighty power that rules the universe, to help us all find answers to end this tragic killing debacle.
Consistently Bush has refused to speak to leaders of Iran, Syria or North Korea.
Considering what Bush has done, perhaps the admonition "pride and a haughty spirit cometh before a downfall" might remove some of his supreme arrogance in the light of the trail of terror and error that is Bush's lasting legacy.
Also, loudly applauding Republican Senators and Members of Congress, this will also be your lasting legacy and you are powerless to escape it.
