Tired Of The Al Gore Speculation

I happen to believe that the preponderence of unsubstantiated political rumor put out by a media at the behest of certain interests that doesn't seem to want to educate on this crisis but only trivialize it is hurting the environmental movement as a whole because many of all political predispositions look up to Al Gore now in light of his selfless actions regarding bringing this information and solutions to the people in a grassroots effort that doesn't get nearly the airtime or attention that all of this political frivolity gets.
To me that speaks volumes about our toxic system as Mr. Gore so accurately described it, and the motives of those "advisers" who claim to support him but who clearly have other agendas at play.
Gore campaign team assembles in secret
This is what passes for journalism today. People actually get paid to write such garbage which is a clear example of the pablum that passes for informational and educational journalism in our world. This piece of misleading political hype is exactly the reason why I do not believe Mr. Gore will ever plan on being a candidate again and frankly I cannot blame him.
It is obvious to me that there are a few unemployed political operatives looking for jobs and looking to cash in on Mr. Gore's popularity regarding An Inconvenient Truth. However, notice that nowhere in this tripe are the words global warming or sources that are even remotely credible. Crap? Yes, but it is crap that many who also seem to have nothing else to do but support this kind of irresponsible journalism eat up because it feeds their own fantasies and gives them something to talk about in lieu of actually having to face issues themselves.
Now, to be clear, I am a supporter of Mr. Gore's and have been for many years and love him very much. He is an inspiration to me because of his selfless work on the environment all of these years and his visionary and truthful words regarding the state of our "Democracy" and especially the crisis we face regarding the future sustainability of our planet. And that is exactly why such unsubstantiated tripe angers me, and here is why:
Firstly, the title of this is a bald faced lie. There is no sanctioned political campaign being undertaken by Mr. Gore nor at his direction (and they know that no matter how many times they print he didn't ask them people will think he did) nor do I believe he is thinking about that because he simply doesn't have time to be bothered by it. He is doing very important work now which really should be the focus here.
Secondly, it smacks of opportunism in the timing of it and people simply using this good man's name to get attention for themselves. There seems to be a lot of that going around lately.
Thirdly, it also appears to be politically motivated by a group of people who simply believe the "frontrunner" for their party cannot win, so they aim to push Mr. Gore in as their second choice. It is pushy, arrogant, and in my view totally disrespectful to the man and his wishes and makes me truly question the loyalty of those who would dare be a party to such tactics that in my mind seek to undermine his current efforts such as being a nominee for the Nobel Peace prize.
Do they really think all of this impresses the Nobel committee? I would think that if they even had an inkling that Mr. Gore was only thinking of using any winning of this prize to his own advantage that he would not be considered. How dare people think that they know better than he does in how he now conducts his own life, especially after all of the years of loyal service he has given to the people of this country and is now giving to this world.
However, such is the MO of the political beast that stalks good men aiming to eat them alive. Such is the nature of a process that cares more for the color of your tie or how much you weigh, or how you wear your hair, or how much money you raise rather than what you stand for and how you stand up for it. This is the kind of society we are perpetuating by continuing to support mindless and baseless baiting as this article, because it does undermine sincere efforts and bi- partisan progress.
Here is an article wherein Mr. Gore's office refutes this:
By Greg SargentNaah. Not happening. Al Gore's camp is denying a report saying that his friends have "secretly started assembling a campaign team in preparation for the former American vice-president to make a fresh bid for the White House." The report is now one of the lead stories on the Drudge Report and is being played up elsewhere.
But Gore spokesperson Kalee Kreider emails us this: "There is not a secret campaign operation in Nashville or any other part of the country to mobilize a campaign...other than that which the former Vice President has stated, to mobilize the American people to address the climate crisis."
Adds former Gore adviser Michael Feldman: "Pure fantasy."
So who put this out? And why would these advisers wish to sabotage his work now if they truly support it more than their political agendas? Why aren't they helping him with that and having meetings about what we can do to join together to solve this most challenging crisis if they support him? Oh wait, I forgot. They are "politicos," so that says it all. The climate crisis obviously isn't important enough to them to understand that these games serve no purpose in the end. Didn't they also do enough damage in 2000? Please, been there, done that. The Telegraph is also known as a right wing publication if I am not mistaken, so why would anyone even give it credence in the blogosphere which constantly plays up the hype over his work? Why would people who claim to support Mr. Gore even entertain this when it is obvious it was intended in its framing to sabotage his efforts and place unnecessary expectations upon him by using the exact same tactics that got us where we are today? Well, your guess is as good as mine, but it is disappointing to me to see this kind of diversion getting more play in the blogosphere than his environmental work.
Face it, politics never will change its MO and that is why I am so gratified that Mr. Gore has now called it his "former occupation," and yes even so, I will admit that the vision of him taking the oath of office is something I have envisioned and worked for many times these past years through my tears before I saw the truth as well... but I too can no longer live in a fantasy for the cold hard reality of life is what must be dealt with now. (And he will always be my President regardless of anything else.) And unlike the depictions of him in articles like this, he is not a prevaricating calculating political hack using us all for his own agenda and will do great things regardless of his address.
Therefore, I don't then happen to think that constantly pushing him, harrassing him, planting stories in newspapers, and giving credence to those stories is supporting anything but your own agenda. He is now running the greatest and most important campaign of his life and that this world has ever seen, and I intend to focus on that because it far surpasses the catty prententious BS political campaigns we see in this country that place more importance on hype, rumor, and supposition over substance as this so aptly proves.
And to end this, if, IF somewhere in the future be it months or years down the road Mr. Gore in his own heart and soul concludes that running for office in some capacity in this toxic system is what he believes he must do, he must have absolutely nothing to do with anyone or anything related to 2000 in any way, shape, or form or anyone related to this status quo system. It must be totally on HIS terms with no one telling him how much he needs to weigh, what he needs to wear, how he must talk or think, or what words he must use in his sentences. And the media would have to simply learn to live with it as well as the pompous asses elsewhere who seem to think they have the right to tell anyone how to live when they cannot even impeach a criminal regime bent on destroying all this country once stood for. And BTW, what are these so called "advisers" doing now to help in addressing this crisis? Sitting around a table playing a game of political odds (if that is even true) as our Earth melts around us doesn't sound very constructive to me.
That being said, I think the focus should return to the prize we must keep our eye on: Our Earth and the campaign for her. Mr. Gore is doing that and inspiring others around the world to do so as well which may well in time save her. In my book nothing is more important than that now, and I thank him for it.
