The Impeachment Chronicles: Kucinich Introduces Articles of Impeachment Against Cheney Email Print

Dennis Kucinich has taken a meaningful forward step that is essential for the preservation of democracy and world stability.  Kucinich today introduced articles of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney.

When Kucinich was interviewed by Wolf Blitzer of CNN he was asked whether this step might be a mistake since "we are at war," his response was directly on point.  Kucinich told Blitzer that we went to war based on a series of lies.  These lies were repeatedly propagated by Cheney and Bush.

For those wondering whether George W. Bush rather than Cheney should have been singled out, should this vital step gain the kind of grassroots support that it deserves then it is only a question of time before the chief executive, in name at any rate, is singled out in the same fashion.

A key point raised by Kucinich is Cheney's ongoing effort to instigate a war against Iran, which he stated violated Article 6 of the U.S. Constitution.

An essential element in any impeachment action should be cognizance that the clock is ticking and the Project for the American Century along with its media propagandists such as Bill Kristol, Charles Krauthammer, George Will, Rich Lowry and Jonah Goldberg, are loudly beating the drums for military action in Iran.

Take a close look at the PNAC's stated objectives and it is understandable why Kucinich is worried as well as why his current emphasis is on Cheney, someone so many of us have been convinced from the outset is the real White House power broker in carrying out an aggressive neocon military agenda.

When Blitzer asked Kucinich whether he had consulted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi or Majority Leader Steny Hoyer prior to introducing articles of impeachment, he stated that he had not.  Once more Kucinich should be applauded for his action.

The preservation of America and global order overrides the timidity of a party that has become a laughing stock for its refusal to confront neoconservative tyranny.  The "impeachment is off the table" edict by Pelosi must be disregarded.

If Democrats continue in the same tepid fashion regarding Cheney and Bush a large number of Americans, as Joe Trippi has indicated, might decide that a new party is the answer to the current special interest-glutted charade that insiders seek to pass off as democracy.

Kucinich stated that it was up to Members of Congress to study the impeachment articles concerning what so many have for some time deemed a steady pattern of jingoistic action outside the realm of U.S. and international law.

Two areas of alleged Cheney misconduct deserve careful attention.  The first involves secret meetings in Cheney's office with corporate executives, headed by the global giant he had served as CEO, Halliburton, at which the spoils of a forthcoming invasion of Iraq were allegedly divided.  Congressman Henry Waxman's efforts to obtain the minutes of those meetings have been vigorously resisted by Cheney.

The second area that would figure to inflame public opinion against the ruling neocon junta along with the aforementioned secret meetings is Cheney's unprecedented visits to the Central Intelligence Agency.

Cheney allegedly generated pressure on Middle East CIA experts to generate conclusions that Saddam Hussein's nuclear capability had increased rather than decreased, as existing available evidence indicated.

At present count up to one million Iraqis have died since the Iraq War began and two million more have fled the country, creating ponderous problems for other neighboring nations to deal with such a steadily burgeoning refugee flow.

This is a war that was launched on a tissue of lies with the pattern continuing at the same blinding speed.  It is a blatant lie on the part of Cheney and Bush to contend that Congress seeks to cut off the troops and leave them helpless in the face of attack.  Such an action has never even been discussed.

This lie is being told to counteract any move to set a departure timetable and bring America's troops home.  What Cheney and Bush will not reveal is the intent to remain in Iraq and gradually increase America's presence throughout Arab nations.

This is the clearly enunciated PNAC global agenda.  Global domination has been and remains the chief neocon objective of international adventurers, many of whom cut their teeth on Leon Trotsky's writings before switching their allegiance to Leo Strauss, whose writings reflect a pattern of continuing aggression.

The columns of Charles Krauthammer consistently reveal this line.  Krauthammer recently expressed keen disappointment that Israeli forces left Lebanon too early.  The destruction of that nation's infrastructure, a country whose leader had been anything but an enemy of America, apparently did not suffer enough damage according to Krauthammer.

The real constitution of a lawless neoconservative regime is not the one that Founding Fathers such as Jefferson and Madison bestowed on us.  A thorough investigation of this Administration's pattern of misconduct will reveal that the constitution that Cheney, Bush and other White House operatives follow is the plan for global domination enunciated by the Project for the New American Century.
