Political Cortex: Brain Food for the Body Politic

Now, I don't wish to impede an ongoing investigation in any manner (this one is NOT terror-related in case anyone is wondering) so I'll be purposely vague as to the nature of the visit, but suffice it to say that as nice as the two gentlemen were, the accusatory tone in their voices during a solid one half hour of questioning was more than a bit disconcerting. I kind of felt the wee-est bit like I was in the middle of an episode of 24 on the wrong side of a questioning by Jack Bauer.

"We know more than you think we know!" one of the agents bellowed out at one point, which of course, when it comes to issues of privacy is exactly kind of the point. That's kind of troubling, don't you think? I sure do. And I couldn't help but wonder if what they knew was that I had written pieces such as the following:

Silencing Those Who Speak of Those Who Are Not Silent
Fear Survey
Voodoo Security
Merry Christmas, you did a helluva job Rummy...

Anyway, all being said and done, all worked out fine in the end -- or at least I think it did -- and those two gentlemen, near as I can figure, were just doing their job, and I actually kind of liked them. All the same, it kind of makes you think, don't you think?

Oh, and, by the way, I DID offer to show them my computer and they politely declined. As I said, all worked out fine, but not everyone out there has the advantage of being white, male and grandson to a once upon a time supply side economic advisor to FDR...
