Thank you for Live Earth Al Gore and Kevin Wall Email Print

Written the morning after attending Live Earth at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. with some changes and additions.

I am still recovering from attending Live Earth this past Saturday because it was a transformational experience unparalelled. It was truly an undertaking that was handled with a real concern for our planet.

AL GORE, YOU ARE TRULY A GREAT MAN!!

When he first stepped out on the stage after being introduced by Leonardo De Caprio I was the first in my section to jump to my feet and yell, "I love you Al!", and I am still hoarse this morning because I have never had such a good and EDUCATIONAL time at a concert event as I had yesterday.

And what is even more wonderful is that my teen son left that concert which was the first he ever attended with a smile on his face telling me that he will pledge to live his life as best he can to love Mother Earth after signing the Live Earth Seven Point Pledge... and that made me cry because if all the other young people who were at this concert feel the same and spread that feeling around, WE WILL DO THIS.

Oh, and what was genuinely hilarious was the plane (polluting the air of course) that flew over the stadium with a banner behind it that read: "Don't Believe Al Gore" DemandDebate.com. I made sure when it went by the next time after first seeing it to hold my hand up real high to  give it the proper salute. That proved that he and we are getting to them from outside the system, and they are scared because we are the new revolution! And they proved it when I went to their site (that supposedly has a guy named Milloy who is a commentator on Fox News behind it which is no surprise) to send them mail and couldn't do it. What cowards. They don't want debate, they want to stifle truth. Well, guess what. Too late.

I can't even begin to describe the atmosphere at this concert. It was electric. Giants Stadium for one day was turned into the epicenter of so much positive energy for our planet that I do not believe it will diminish for a very long time.

And the performances? I'm still hoarse from shouting and singing along! Keith Urban and Alicia Keyes singing "Gimme Shelter" was awesome. Melissa Etheridge? What can you say? Magnificent, even though from what I had heard NBC apparently deigned to not include her entire performance and speech about being an American in its tv broadcast. Are you awake? Yes, Melissa, I am!

Bon Jovi...Hey, I'm from New Jersey, and he is the holder of its heart along with our other native legends who sing about truth! Living On A Prayer is what we are doing now, and he rocked that house down to its core with "our national anthem" (Bon Jovi fans know what that means) "Wanted Dead or Alive." Every act even including Ludacris (and no, I'm not really a fan of rap) had me moving and seemed to exude such a raw energy and sincerity, and I know it was because of the cause they were singing for... our planet.

And for the first time a band played an event from Antarctica. Nanatuk made history in that pristine environment where they are seeing the effects of climate change firsthand. And not one of them got paid for it. I also freaked over Roger Waters and "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Brick In The Wall" when a giant inflatable pig came out with SOS all over it. Yeah, that means YOU EXXON!

I could go on for a very long time, but suffice it to say this is without a doubt the greatest event I have ever been to in my entire life, because I not only took away those great performances (including of course, The Police who ended with "Message in a Bottle/Sending Out An SOS To The World") and a hoarse voice, ringing ears, and sunburn, I took away even more than I went in with regarding my purpose in life, and most importantly, my son has been transformed!

And that is the real message of this concert. Not to just sit and listen to the music and then go on our way, but to carry that energy in our hearts from day to day and spread the message.

And one of the highlights for me was when RFK Jr. came out to speak and he spoke just like his father which brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to him as well for all of the work he does every day to fight environmental injustice in this country and in this world. And James Hansen from NASA also came with his grandchildren to speak truth. Wonderful.

Mr. Gore, Mr. Wall, and all who handled this event right down to the security at Giants Stadium which was phenomenal in handling all of the people without incident, THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!

Who says you have to be "president" to make history in this world? And just imagine, this happened simultaneously ALL OVER THE WORLD. You can't get any better than that.

WE WILL DO THIS AND THEY WILL SIMPLY HAVE TO FOLLOW US!

Live Earth is just the beginning of this awakening. We now have the knowledge and tools to make great change, and it is time to use them.
