Al Gore Explains How You Can Fight Global Warming

Just an aside as well regarding my own observations of the web: I saw this video posted on a "progressive" blog a few months ago and there was no glut of postings from concerned citizens or Gore "supporters" who usually jump on threads on such sites about cheerleading for him to run discussing what he talks about in this video. All they did in that thread was gush over him. There was no discussion of what they were doing in their lives to lessen their carbon footprint or to support him in this endeavor. Of course, yes, that doesn't mean they aren't doing anything, but you would think if they support him and more importantly see the urgency of this that would be the reason to post it on the web in the first place. It seems to be a trend that is quite prevalent regarding Mr. Gore. His endeavors are backburnered or only used as political fodder, but any discussion of him entering the political fray again is popular despite his own words. What does that tell you about people actually getting his message for them to be the change they wish to see in the world in taking this seriously?
You only have to go on these blogs (a couple in particular) to see that they only use these interviews as a way to push him to run for office without any other reasonable discussion on their own part, and I truly am beginning to wonder what purpose that serves. That isn't meant to be harsh, although I think we are coming to a point where playing nicey nice with people about getting up to be part of the solution because they appear to think we have all the time in the world to just "talk" on Internet sites is passing fast.
Recently, Mr. Gore gave an interview wondering why people weren't standing in rings around sites where coal plants were going to be built to protest them... well, you only have to look at the Internet on many sites to see that many people who claim to support him really do not support his work now. I have often wondered how many of these vociferous "supporters" would go to the barricades for him now without the "run al run" ultimatum attached to it, and I am disappointed by the answer I get from my observation of sites that don't seem to have too many who truly care for this crisis being solved nor his sincere work to help that come to pass now. And if they do they aren't showing it probably for political reasons, and that is actually detrimental to progress regarding bringing people to a point in this country as Mr. Gore stated in this video where that sea change will occur. His analogy of it being a chicken and egg scenario was right on target.
So, watch this interview, actually listen to his words, and perhaps then you will get a sense of just how urgent it is for us to go beyond the political cheerleading and move on to actually taking him and the scientists seriously. Since this interview as well we have had reports from various scientific organizations regarding escalating melting in the Arctic, Greenland, and regarding glaciers worldwide. The water crisis is getting worse due to droughts that persist. Stronger storms continue to pummel Asia, the Atlantic and the Gulf Coast. Species such as polar bears, penquins, gorillas, frogs, bees, birds, and species worldwide have disappeared in addition to being added to the Red List as endangered... and climate change is part of the cause in every instance as the political mechanism remains toxic and stagnant because so many are still not doing all they can to move it because they are only cheerleading for one person to do it for them instead of doing it themselves.
The Alliance for Climate Protection is working on releasing an ad this month that will be part of a three year blitz to awaken people to their actions that are contributing to what we see happening in our world regarding climate. I think their job could be made so much easier if we all do a bit more to get their information and message out to as many people as possible. Those who think the political sphere is even going to give a damn about this now unless the people cause a sea change are seriously mistaken, as Mr. Gore reiterates in this interview as well. He doesn't do these interviews to "campaign" for himself. This is serious business.
Addendum:
And to all in our country who have seen this urgency and are doing all they can to save our planet and all that is sustained by her, THANK YOU. I am there with you.
