Media Snake Oil: New Hampshire's Pathetic Dog and Pony Show Email Print

How touching it is to hear John McCain along with Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee talk from New Hampshire tonight about the need for change in Washington.

Now who has been in power for the last seven years?

How touching it was to hear McCain talk about victory in Iraq and restoring fiscal responsibility, along with speaking glowingly about the surge working!

The death numbers are still rising in Iraq, Senator McCain, no matter how you spin the surge and what kind of victory are you talking about when the majority of the Iraqis want us to leave and the refugee problem has become so staggering that some reports indicate it is at or near the 5 million mark.

Will somebody address the reason why we went into Iraq?  It was self-defense against weapons of mass destruction that Saddam Hussein was preparing to unleash.  That has been exposed as a monstrous lie that the team of Bush and Cheney helped create.

Some of us would like to follow the Constitution and international law at the same time and remove the prevaricators from office, as the Founding Fathers intended the citizenry to do under such circumstances.

Now about that return to fiscal responsibility?

It has been your party, Senator McCain, that held control of the executive and both houses of Congress when the surplus was shattered and astronomical debt spiraled out of control.

Tell us, Senator McCain and the rest of you Republican presidential candidates.  Can any of you count?  Can any of you face reality?

Senator McCain and the rest of you, this is one figure you never seem to want to acknowledge, much less recognize and articulate.  Here is the current figure from the U.S. Debt Clock as I write this.  Since so few pundits and fewer politicians mention this crucial number I will pay deference to it.

The number:

$9,201,369,573,682.83.

Who has mentioned this figure tonight?

Meanwhile our eminent pundits spend time digressing over whether Hillary Clinton hurt or helped herself by crying.  What about the crying of future generations over this massive and irresponsible debt perpetrated by individuals who operated as disgraces rather than servants of their nation?

Oh yes, Senator McCain, in conclusion, you refer to Iraq in the manner of World War Two.  Forget it, Senator, a lie created this whole thing and there was no reason to go after bin Laden in Iraq because he was no factor there, despite the lie of Dick Cheney and others to the contrary.

Joseph Welch asked Senator Joseph McCarthy, "Sir, have you no shame?  Have you no decency?"

Let's start asking the same question of the politicians and pundits giving us pabulum and a dog and pony show rather than hard-nosed reality.

McCain, who may very well be still suffering from the effects of being a POW for 5 yrs, has been bush's most ardent butt wipe for the past 3 or more years.

By the way, how the hell do people claim that McCain is qualified because of his experiences as a POW?  That's all he did in the Vietnam war.  He was shot down on his first or second flight and then sat in a cell for yrs.   If anything I would be scared to death that this fool might lose it under the stress of the Oval Office.

Heaven help this country if this babbling old fool is installed in the Oval Office.  Heaven help this country if any republican is injected into the Oval Office.

and directly to the point.  McCain definitely is ensconced in his own world and it is a tragically blurry one with pathetic consequences.  Yes, and you are right again when you say how tragic it would be for any of these trotting Republican Bush robots, save Ron Paul, to become president and as we know Paul does not have a chance.  They just love telling about what a great job Bush is doing in Iraq.
