Senator McCain, Are You a Marxist? Email Print

The name calling from the McCain camp has reached fever pitch as more polls are released showing his damaged posture while we march toward Tuesday's climactic presidential election.

A study of the electoral college map is staggering in terms of current trends.  A current Arizona State University shows that McCain with a scant 2-point edge in his own state, one that had been conceded to him from the outset.

Meanwhile in the south McCain has more than Virginia and North Carolina to be worried  about as Georgia looms interestingly close, sparked by a large early voting turnout by African Americans.  Even in a stalwart Republican state such as Mississippi the numbers have narrowed.

So what does McCain do as he becomes increasingly desperate?  He dusts off an ancient right wing Republican scare tactic that has pushed beyond the re-dristibutionist charge to accusations of socialism.  McCain's "I'll say anything" Caribou Barbie running mate has upped the ante by linking Barack Obama to Marxism.

The McCain-Palin argument is as specious as it is simplistic, designed to capture the votes of the lower rung of "thinkers" who consider Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity eminent political philosophers.

The argument goes this way:

Senator Obama, by passing your tax package that in effect takes money from two perfectly legitimate and non-socialistic tax cuts under Bush that benefited mightily the top 5 percent of the nation's economic tier, socialism is the result as individuals making more than $250,000 per year will, under this draconian socialist scheme, see their tax rate move to a level existent under Bill Clinton's presidency.

According to McCain this is ipso facto socialism.  By using a similar line of reasoning focusing on the re-distributionist lament of the McCain-Palin forces along with their team of ever noisy and busy surrogates a conclusion can be reached via factual evidence:

By the standards of your eminently scholarly running mate and equally talented surrogates you would certainly, by such head jumbling culminated by name calling, be a Marxist.

Yes, you John McCain would qualify as a Marxist by your own mirror befogged, loony land economic rationalizing.

You were born and bred in the military life, Senator McCain, with your father rising to the rank of Admiral in the U.S. Navy.  How many privileges did you receive that were re-distributionist in what under your standard would be discernibly socialistic and Marxist?

So many of us paid taxes so you could receive socialistic medical care from your youth all the way to the present and your political career in the House and Senate.

Senator McCain, you get the best of medical care without having to shell out the way that those of us do who are paying for you.  If this is not re-distributionist skewed in the direction of the few and paid for by the many, then what is it?

So after getting all that travel that you flaunt aided by socialism through U.S. taxpayers from your military youth to your current political career, you while in the Navy jumped into the big money category by divorcing your wife and marrying your mistress, someone who happened to be a brewery heiress.

By some accounts Cindy Hensley McCain is currently worth $100 million.

When you decided after marrying the brewery heiress to make the leap into politics, who was there to supply much of the needed funding but your multi-millionaire father in law.  You got your break through Hensley family economic clout and social largesse.

During your time in the House and Senate, Senator, like it or not you were on the public dole with all the perks that go with it.  Since we taxpayers paid your salary, those who basically made less and owned less than you, fewer than 7 houses and no private jet, and could not match your free health care package, then are you not a socialist, or even a Marxist?

If there is one thing that the average taxpayer does not need from you of all people, John McCain, it would be warnings and lectures about socialism and Marxism.
