An amazing quote

Former President of Taiwan Chen Shui-bian was indicted for corruption on December 5 (2008).
In his defense, his lawyer, Cheng Wen-lung, said: "Virtually no one in Taiwan politics is honest, not even (President) Ma Ying-jeou."
Does that mean that it's ok?
If this considered to be a valid defense, it sets an interesting precedent.
