According to Hannity, we are fighting terrorists and their state sponsors. But under international law, only nation-states have the power to declare war on other nation-states, and even then the war may be legal or illegal. If we are at war, which nation has declared war on us? None have done so. If none have done so, how is it that we are at war? Though the war in Afghanistan was a justified war of national liberation, the war in Iraq is different. We did not have sufficient reasons to invade the latter country. Iraq did not threaten or attack us, but we threatened and attacked it in an illegal, offensive, aggressive war. We are engaged in a fruitless war in Iraq and a fruitless "war" with terrorists by our own choosing.
