George Bush Gives Up Golf? Email Print

Bob Lander of Mercer Island, Washington wrote this Letter to the Editors posted in the May 16 Seattle Times:

"As a combat infantry veteran of World War II, I commend President Bush for his decision to give up golf (out of his respect for veterans).  It spares military families the unseemly sight of the commander in chief goofing off from his grueling wartime schedule as their loved ones suffer and die.

"It's a compassionate decision.  Gutsy.  Patriotic.  Who among us could ask for anything more?"

Indeed, who among us in a nation of mere mortals could we ask a more demanding or agonizing sacrifice than for George W. Bush to give up golf to show his abiding respect for veterans and their families?

Alas, even when he is waxing magnanimous things are not as George W. Bush would have us imagine.

Take the sacrifice of giving up golf.  Well, it so happens that shortly after this decision he proclaimed had come to pass Bush was pictured by television cameras doing what?  

Actually photographed playing golf!

This president will lie about anything (none / 0)
This particular lie reminds me of the time, several years back, when President Oatmeal-For-Brains fell off his bicycle. Instead of just saying that the idiot prince fell off his bike, which I have done a time or two, as an adult, and I imagine others have, they made up some silly story about the ground being loose because of all the recent rains in Crawford. An easy check with the Weather Channel gave lie to this White House idiocy. There had been no hard rains anywhere near Crawford. Only a sprinkle or two in the area for weeks.

It just goes to show that this president and his administration are pathological liars. There is nothing they won't lie about, including whether or not Bush is still playing golf, as if anyone, least of all war widows and others who are grieving unnecessarily for those lost in this insane war, really give a damn what he's doing as long as it isn't planning another insane war.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid that is exactly what he is doing, or that's what the neocon eggheads are doing while he is playing golf.

I long for the day when NeoCons are hunted down and put on trial like the Nazis after WWII.
