McClellan's false and also tasteless response was that the administration was interested in fighting terrorism and that Helen Thomas apparently was not.

The use of such a broad and unchecked mandate is generally reserved for dictatorial tyrants.  In this case it came from John Yoo of the Justice Department.  

Had Yoo not been the willing servant of the moment can we reasonably doubt that the necessary legal justification to do whatever it takes by a crew of marauders willing to do anything to carry out its destiny of broad and sweeping rule by empire would have found another source to serve its ends?  

The history of dictatorial regimes is to find appropriate sources to issue the correct directives, which they then expeditiously implement.

In this case a gang that cannot ultimately shoot straight and is marked by acts of the brutally obvious has reached the point of what, given less tragic circumstances, would register as the hallmark in comic opera, the kind that would have prompted Gilbert and Sullivan to turn green with envy.

Here is Bernard Kerik, the disgraced former New York Police Commissioner who now faces a minefield of criminal charges including multiple counts of fraud, conspiracy and tax evasion, leveling charges against McClellan of "disloyalty and betrayal".

Kerik further added that to write an unflattering book about a chief executive one previously served as McClellan has "should be a crime."

Mary Matalin served as a principal adviser to Dick Cheney.  This is the same Cheney who leaned heavily on CIA operatives to pressure alarming reports of Saddam Hussein possessing weapons of mass destruction.  

This is the same Cheney who conducted those secret meetings on Iraq before its invasion that provided bountiful future booty to Halliburton, the corporation he previously led in name and continued to lead in action from his vice presidential office.

Matalin's illuminating comment on McClellan's revelations was that they revealed "the epitome, the ultimate breach of that code of honor."

Is there honor among members of an administration that, based on solid evidence, committed international war crimes?

The fact that Matalin could deliver such a statement with an apparent straight face indicates why she was chosen to serve Cheney in the first place, the same individual who as a Wyoming Congressman voted against Meals on Wheels for seniors and opposed a resolution calling for Nelson Mandela to be released from prison.

Yes, and this is the same Dick Cheney that supports waterboarding and the broadest possible construction on Patriot Act legislation to fight terrorism, beginning with the obliteration of the Bill of Rights while leading the charge to transport "American democracy" throughout the world via corporate suffocation carried out under the New World Order.

Matalin, it will be recalled, is married to Democratic Party political strategist James Carville.  This is the same Carville who, after New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson chose to exercise his right as a citizen to endorse Barack Obama for President over Hillary Clinton, likened him, during Christian Holy Week no less, to Judas Iscariot.

In conclusion, two points appear clear.  James Carville and Mary Matalin deserve each other and the current American "two party system" should teach us that we are in no position to provide pointers on democracy to other nations, much less occupy them and use that venerable term in the most odious and hypocritical manner.
