Now is the Time to Impeach George W. Bush! Email Print

Elizabeth Holtzman in a July 8 column appearing in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer declared the following:

"According to a top aide, John McCain recently endorsed George W. Bush's right to wiretap U.S. citizens without court approval, despite the clear requirements of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.  It's clear that McCain has learned nothing from the past seven-plus years of Bush/Cheney assaults on the Constitution."

It is alarming that apparently Americans confused about a president's prerogatives, or the question must now be asked.  After 8 years of continuous constitutional abuses, are they so warped in their thinking that they imagine George Bush has the right to subvert the Constitution?

Holtzman cites imperative urgency, continuing:

"This is why Congress should initiate impeachment proceedings now.

"Impeachment is one of the few ways Congress can draw limits around presidential power and educate the country about those limits.  And without the people's support for those limits, they will be breached again and again by future presidents.

"The proposed revisions of FISA that recently passed the House give added urgency to the impeachment argument.  Some Democrats have announced support for the Bill because it will restrain this bungling Bush and future presidents."

Impeachment is the only way this White House resident can be forced to obey the law.

Impeachment sends a monumental message to any future president.

Bush's tragic reign of continual error in every direction - foreign policy, conducting an illegitimate war in violoation of Geneva Convention rules of war that the U.S. signed, his economic policy of wanting so desperately to have private bank accounts for Social Security, as well as a soon to be $10 trillion debt point to failure in every direction, save as a sellout to the military-industrial complex.

Bush flew around the U.S.A. in Air Force One using tons to gas to 50 states and the public told this arrogant man, no way.  Now that banks all over the U.S. are collapsing due to lack of control, the sub-prime risky loans are hurting banks around the world.

Everything is inflated from gas to food, to hospitals, health care, prescriptions, college and a worn out old ignorant Republican Phil Gramm snarls, "It is an intellectual depression" while homeless families increase and children are deprived of health care and the elderly go hungry.
