How Lawbreakers Plan to Escape Punishment

The New York Times revealed that "Several members of the conservative legal community" are pushing the White House to grant what are called "pre-emptive pardons" for officials involved in so-called counter-terrorism programs.
Legal experts say the president can issue a pardon at any time whether the charges have been filed or not. The U.S. Constitution has been the traditional safeguard to preserve what the founders of our nation established.
Tragically the Bush Republican administration has trashed the constitutional safeguards that have protected U.S. citizens for over two hundred years. Intercepting private communication without the traditional required warrant to permit this has been circumvented blatantly and without apology by the Bush administration.
Torture techniques, waterboarding (pushing a victim under water, sometimes adding electrical current to add pain, and simulating drowning) was allowed under the Bush regime's reign of appalling error.
Congress went along with this too, but nobody in Congress ever volunteered to undergo waterboarding when some Members of Congress claimed that it did not really constitute torture.
Now, with the possibility of a new administration perhaps pulling U.S. service personnel back from Iraq to the U.S.A., the torture perpetrators could face the chance of investigation and possible punishment.
They are rushing to the White House, demanding, "Don't subject us to any legal test of our conduct! We want pardons right now, Mr. Bush."
The term terrorist is frequently used to tag disagreement. Could expressing disagreement be considered an act of terrorism?
Whatever happened to freedom of speech? Whatever happened to holding a different opinion?
Are the actions of the Bush administration above and beyond the right of human beings to disagree?
Perhaps this is the case. When Mr. Bush was asked at one point if he consulted with his father, the Elder Bush, he replied that he instead consulted with his "other Father" meaning God, and who can argue with God?
A representative for Obama said today that if Obama became president they would try to prosecute only the most egregious cases of lawbreaking.
Could it be that this statement triggered a rush to the White House to obtain pre-emptive pardons pronto from Bush?
