Get over it, Oil Grabbers! Iraqis Want U.S. Out! Email Print

One of Dick Cheney's most preposterous comments amid a long political career of defying credibility and reality came before Donald Rumsfeld's "shock and awe" attacks were unleashed and American forces occupied Iraq.

"Our troops will be greeted as liberators!" Cheney confidently proclaimed.

Anyone with a reasonable knowledge of Arab history knows that its people do not want to be occupied by outside forces.

This was what confronted Turkey's Ottoman Empire when stern Arab resistance during World War One prompted one of history's leading figures in understanding the Arab mind, T.E. Lawrence, known as "the crown prince of Arabia" to achieve unity among warring tribes for the objective of freeing the Arabs from outside influence.

Lawrence's prize literary and historical work "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" defined Arab character and underscored the unswerving desire of Arabs to be removed from outside controlling influence.  The fact that Lawrence, through no fault of his own, was unable to deliver his promise to the Arabs of freedom was the crushing blow of his life and prompted him to retire to obscurity.

The New World Order had Iraq's future decided before George W. Bush and Dick Cheney assumed office, as is plain from reading the documents of the Project for the New American Century.

One of that group's major spear carriers, Paul Wolfowitz, did his best to assure that a one-sided and blatantly false side of the Iraq picture emerged when, as a Bush administration insider, he saw that infamous Arab con artist Ahmed Chalabi got his bogus story out to the American media.

The New York Times, America's "paper of record" certainly got the point, as did PBS Television's "Frontline" as Chalabi pulled a nuclear scare story out of the hat, warning that the United States faced oncoming peril from Saddam Hussein's nuclear arsenal.

Condoleezza Rice, as a good time player for big oil as a Chevron board executive, used her position of power and influence to spread this message as she referred to a "giant mushroom cloud" that the Iraqi dictator would unleash on the United States.

Go back a few years and think about it.  Wasn't it our own CIA that helped bring Saddam Hussein to power?

He was every bit as ruthless then as he was years later, but it took a long time before the U.S. government chose to recognize him for what he represented as George Bush the Elder, prior to invading Kuwait, called Saddam "worse than Hitler."

The elder Bush was the first U.S. chief executive to pose that now familiar term "New World Order".  The veteran oil man and current strong man for the Carlyle Group had been in the thick of the Iran-Contra scandal.

Now suddenly Bush had turned on Iraq's dictator, as did his fellow oil veteran and Texan, Secretary of State James Baker.  Did it have anything to do with petro politics?

What a tragedy to have a vice president in Dick Cheney who serves as perpetual front man for the New World Order as well as perennial bag man for the company he once headed as its CEO, Halliburton, deciding with his blood-stained colleagues which countries to invade.

The head strong New World Order is so immersed in its own tunnel vision that it fails to recognize a basic element of history that T.E. Lawrence, whose intelligence and insight surpasses their combined wisdom, that the Arab world will not tolerate foreign occupation.

A good test question to ask the shameless sophists that back the Bush-Cheney New World Order is about the brutal genocide of the Kurdish population in Iraq's northern provinces by Saddam Hussein after George Bush the Elder offered to provide American assistance in exchange for Kurdish help in the Gulf War.

The elder Bush capitulated to Saudi pressures with big oil the prominent player as the Kurds were massacred.

What happened when those self-proclaimed soldiers of freedom and justice were asked about the fate of the Kurds?

"We had a different enemy then," they answer.

How revealing!  Are human lives to be strictly equated with petro dollars?

How notable that the mainstream media distanced itself from Dennis Kucinich when he provided the most sensible solution to Iraq War tragedies as the Cleveland congressman recommended removing U.S. forces and replacing them with a United Nations multilateral force spearheaded by forces from Arab nations.

This is the type of recommendation the New World Order does not wish to hear, much less consider.  It wants the forces of Halliburton and Bechtel to remain in place while the U.S. controls oil pipelines in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East.
