Tell Us, Limbaugh: Where is the Global Warming Fraud? Email Print

As Rush Limbaugh continues sallying forth and the ardent Tea Baggers make noise, the key to the whole approach, in the manner of propagandists, as evidenced by the Joseph Goebbels technique, is that there is no accountability.

Toss accountability out of the mix and you have a propagandist's dream.  Say anything you want and when demands are made to verify you either switch to another topic or just yell a little louder and make your accusations  more vehemently.

Limbaugh, with or without a fix of Oxycontin, generally uses the latter approach.  He persists with his fervent accusations and name calling, never bothering to respond to those challenging him.

Notice what happened when he dared attempt a studio audience approach.  One of the hottest You Tube selections was of Limbaugh being shouted down by Act Up members who ultimately called him a liar.

The show ended with Limbaugh clearing the studio.  He came back with a sad expression on his face and told his audience how tragic it is when people cannot have an orderly, reasoned discussion.  Yes, as evidenced by his radio programs.

Lately Limbaugh has been devoting significant attention to the global warming debate.  Even in a world where his audience consists of broadly assenting Tea Baggers and strident Fox viewers he realizes that it is foolish to question the credentials of some of the world's most eminent scientists, who comprise the side he vigilantly attacks.

So Limbaugh takes another approach.  The whole thing boils down to fraud, corruption, of attempting to profiteer from a cause.  In this case it is global warming and the issue has become a political football in the view of Limbaugh, a cause to be exploited for personal gain.

It is time to tell Limbaugh and those allied with him that when a charge is leveled it must be met with evidence.  This is what has traditionally been done to counteract the ignorance coupled with virulent hate that comprises the world of the propagandist.

If one wants to make money on any issue where science is involved success can be easier achieved by taking the side where the profit factor lies.  Remember those scientists who, during the smoking debate, presented reports that the habit was not a killer?

How about the subject of air pollution?  Is it science or industry that has rewarded those who take the opposite view on the assertion that polluting the air through irresponsibility causes deaths, just as smoking does?

Remember what then Governor George W. Bush of Texas did?  He helped lead the successful movement in his state to allow corporate polluters to police themselves.

Scientists provided figures that this policy led to increased deaths, primarily among the very young and old, with a big emphasis on the powerful oil city of Houston.

So tell us, Rush.  Which side among those investigating climate change, pollution, and smoking are making the big dollars from corporations?  Aren't they rewarding the folks on your side?

Give us more proof and less volume, Rush.  We know, that's not fair.  The only way to play the game is your way.
