Al Gore In Mexico, And The Media Distorts

Al Gore Stirs Controversy, This Time In Mexico
And while I may be a little bit disappointed I can't access it, I understand why, and anyone who hasn't been living under a rock these past couple months does too despite this article's attempt to divert from that.
The truth of the matter is that the media is nothing more than a willing accomplice to the same disinformation machine that does nothing but impede our freedom to truth they then whine about, as opposed to seeking it out and writing about substance. Mr. Gore has given many presentations and talks about climate change in the public with question and answer sessions, and some of them where he has requested media not question him or be present. He is a private citizen and not an ego driven media hound looking to exacerbate the smelly side of journalism as media hounds like Sarah Palin do because it gives her face time to feed red meat to her clueless base.
He is serious about what he is talking about, not about entertaining the press to give them more fodder for their sordid accusations. His talk is for the people in the room, not a press conference. And let's be real here, the few times he has allowed questions from the media the session has degraded into nothing more than an attack on his character or his work. Hardly professional journalism. And just what praytell do you think the media would have talked about in Mexico? Water shortages? Drought? Agriculture? NO. More like, groping a masseuse, being a "crazed sex poodle" and other assorted tabloid BS.
And let me also address their allegations of him being a hypocrite concerning it by having the audacity to compare this event to BP not allowing media access to the worst environmental catastrophe in the US. REALLY? Did BP tell you to say that? There isn't even a comparison that can be made concerning that. Mr. Gore's talk not being televised or given full media access will not cause an ecocide. It is beyond preposterous and absolutely reveals the true intent of this article which was not to be outraged because their rights had been infringed upon. It was because they didn't get the chance to ask their dirty little questions.
And on that point let me just say that I am disappointed as a supporter of the man in that it is actually BECAUSE of the media that I believe he closes appearances. Because of their on the whole anal tabloid mentalities. Because it isn't about getting to the real substance and caring about the issue, but spinnning their own web of lies and innuendos. Which brings me to the next innuendo, that this talk was financed by "private sources" and that he was actually there because it was a political fundraiser. I don't know that, but of course, there is no concrete evidence of that presented either. So what is the plan now? They can't get him with the sex scandal, so now try this, whatever it is.
They also printed a photo in their report that makes you actually wonder if Mr. Gore was really happy about being there. There are no pictures of him shaking hands, smiling, or doing anything that would suggest he was there for anything other than discussing climate change, especially considering the summit planned for Cancun at the end of this year ... and actually, if media was barred where did the picture come from? The media was also allowed to view the first five minutes via closed circuit tv which I would assume gave them the jist of what he was there to speak about and yet they still whine because as I stated, they are just so concerned about the environmental impact climate change is having on Mexico, right?
Now I will be the first to say I believe in freedom, but please don't try to throw up the red herring that this in any way demonstrates a lack of believing in democracy considering the circumstances under which this was written and the country they live in. Mr. Gore also just did a climate presentation in the Phillipines that is on You Tube. My advice to those in the media who truly care about climate change and how it is now hitting Mexico hard due to drought that may well impede farmer's ability to grow food thus causing more migration to America and destruction of your own country: look it up, watch it, and write on that.
So I'm done rightfully lambasting the media for their feigned concern, so I also have a couple of comments to direct to Mr. Gore. Sir, you may need to give some sort of address, be it on video, in person, in editorial form, whatever. You need to put this to rest in order for the environmental movement to move on to tackle this crisis. And yes, I agree you shouldn't have to but this is the way of humans.
I fear you will never be able to give a public presentation on this crisis again without this stigmatism hanging over your head, even though you were exonerated. Haters planted the seed and they will continue to plow it over and over again regarding you and frankly, I love and respect you too much to see this hanging over your head. It isn't right, and it is counterproductive to what must be done now.
Ok, my last comment. You left the political arena because you had stated how dirty it was. You did not run for president after 2000 because of course, you had firsthand knowledge of it. So please, try if you can to distance yourself from the dirty side of it in this mission. Although I believe you are finding out that even though you are not in politics, you still have to be in order to get this message across. That is actually the sad and outrageous irony about all of this. But please remember that once compromised a soul has a hard time reconciling, and this crisis is more important than any endorsement as is your voice and all of our voices together. I do believe that there are politicians who really don' t care about your message either, but will use it to their advantage as well.
Be careful out there.

Update 8/9/10:
They weren't satisfied with just one story, now one of the writers has essentially rewritten it and continues her tirade as if she is so upset her journalistic rights were infringed upon because a private citizen didn't give her the chance to lambast him in public about an event they provided absolutely no proof for.
Al Gore's 7 Simple Rules For Blocking Media Access
And the kicker is, none of the comments I have posted to this article in response on their site have been posted as they claim they have the discretion to not post it... In other words, censorship. Hypocrites.
