Rep. Peter King (NY-03) is an ASSHOLE! (Episode 1)

Yesterday, I announced my intention to start local blogging the Peter King race. It seemed like a good choice for me for a number of reasons:
So, as a result, I'm local blogging this race, and, from today until election day, I will document Peter King's total assholeness. Here is episode one:
1. I am somewhat local, as I live in Manhattan and Peter King is in Long Island.
- While King's Long Island District has been a slam-dunk Republican seat for over a decade, the area is trending blue.
- Charlie Cook just took the race out of the "solid Republican" column, the first time in my memory I can remember that race being remotely competitive.
- The challenger, Dave Mejias, has wowed people with his solid campaigning and fundraising, and just picked up the AFL-CIO endorsement, which King has inexplicably received in the past.
- And lastly, and most importantly, Peter King is a TOTAL ASSHOLE!

NY-03; A challenge for Peter "we'll do the counting" King?

(This diary originally posted on Daily Kos.) Okay, this is my second stab at a real, analytical diary. Though I'm a relative neophyte, this is my first attempt at tackling a political issue. It is as much a request for information as a sharing of my thoughts, so all contributions are appreciated.
I've been following the "50-state" effort and skimmed Kos' update a few days ago. As a born and raised New Yorker, I noted that we still didn't have challengers in NY-03 and NY-13. Since I'm not in either district and NY's deadline is 7/13, I didn't look any further.
Yesterday morning, RBH put up a very nice (and apparently little-read) diary updating the remaining "unopposeds," listing each Republican incumbent by name and district. From that list two things stood out. The first was that RBH didn't have the NY-13 incumbent on the list, leading me to believe that the seat will now be opposed.
