Within the last month and a half these are all of the locations globally that Al Gore appeared to either premiere An Inconvenient Truth or speak about the climate crisis:

Al Gore's Awards: Does He Really Need An Oscar?

By LadyInBlack

Al Gore's, An Inconvenient Truth has thus far won the Humanitas Prize and the Clarion Award. The book of the same title was just awarded the Quill Award. All of these awards reveal that the human and spiritual facets to this book besides the scientific facts have reached people and have already made a difference in many lives. However, there was no really big hoopla made about them in the media.

Demeaning Al Gore's Conviction

By LadyInBlack

I have read some articles and opinions written of late wherein the writers of those articles are intimating that Al Gore wrote his book An Inconvenient Truth and made this most important movie for our times as just a springboard to run for President again. I say, how dare you.

Regarding The Al Gore Ad On Proposition 87

By LadyInBlack
10/10/2006 10:39:43 AM EST
This was not written by a Democrat or a Republican. This was written by someone who cares for the environment, sees the true urgency of this crisis, and is tired of the political run around on all sides. This proposition does not call for getting alternate energies to market now, which I believe is a mistake in that it will make people suspicious about its motives. Therefore, as an American and someone who does not believe this to be a political issue, that is where this opinion comes from... the heart of a working American tired of being taken advantage of by a system that never considers the plight of the poor in regards to their policies. And this climate crisis is defintely an issue where the poor in this country have the biggest stake.

Did Al Gore Say Cigarette Smoking Causes Global Warming?

Or is this simply just another RW attack to skew his words and their context in order to take the focus off of the issue? Yeah, that's the ticket.
It doesn't take much if you have the will to search out information to do so. It certainly is more fulfilling than sitting at your modem reading the absolute tripe that comes from RW blogs in this country. Once again we see a multitude of them joining forces to skirt the important issue of the climate crisis that was disseminated to a global audience to do good, to hit their favorite target. Well, here are just a couple of sites to get them educated:

Al Gore's Journey Is Now Ours

By LadyInBlack

I had a front row seat in a packed theatre to see Al Gore's
An Inconvenient Truth when it first opened in select theatres in my state last June, and I can describe it in two words: a journey. It is Al Gore's journey of heart, soul, spirit, and mind through a lifetime of stewardship and also growth.

Mr. Gore, Consider Me Disenthralled

By LadyInBlack

I previously wrote an
entry regarding why I applied to be a trainee for Al Gore's slideshow in Nashville. I claimed truthfully that I wanted to go because I care about the future and because I have always believed that this is a moral issue. And of course, also because I deeply respect Mr. Gore after having been someone who has followed all he has tried to do over the past thirty years to get this issue to the forefront where it belongs.

We Need Al Gore As Our Global Environmental Ambassador

By LadyInBlack

This is an article regarding an appearance by Mr. Gore at the UN yesterday where he presented his slideshow on the climate crisis to hundreds of UN diplomats and employees. I remember not long ago making a suggestion that Mr. Gore should take his presentation to the UN considering that this is the global body that will have the most influence on seeking ways to mitigate this global crisis. It did my heart good to then read that he was there giving this presentation.

Al Gore Understands The Selfish Obsession: And So Must We

By LadyInBlack
09/28/2006 11:45:26 AM EST
Why is it that so many people still refuse to see that An Inconvenient Truth is not about partisan politics or campaigning for 2008, but about exercising our own moral responsibility to our planet before it is too late? Are we truly so far into denial as a whole that we still refuse to see that?

"With the future so open to doubt, we routinely choose to indulge our own generation at the expense of all who will follow. We enshrine the self as the unit of ethical account, separate and distinct not just from the natural world but even from a sense of obligation to others-not just others in future generations, but increasingly even to others in the same generation; and not just those in distant lands, but increasingly even in our own communities. We do this not because we don't care but because we don't really live in our lives. We are monumentally distracted by a pervasive technological culture that appears to have a life of its own, one that insists on our full attention, continually seducing us and pulling us away from the opportunity to experience directly the true meaning of our own lives."

Al Gore's Movie Has More Than One Message

By LadyInBlack
09/26/2006 09:43:08 AM EST
In Mr. Gore's magnificent treatise on government and the excesses of Presidential power that he gave on
January 16 of this year he used the phrase, "the consent of the governed." He called those of us who are the governed to seek within us the same spirit that steered our Forefathers through the tossed and stormy seas of great change to birth a nation to now guide us to a new "golden age." His words were daring, bold, brave, visionary, and at the same time reminiscent of that very spirit that first saw Colonists fighting an empire and changing the course of history. And that is the same spirit that is the truth in his movie, An Inconvenient Truth. However, for me, he isn't just talking about climate change in this movie; he is also talking about saving our country and renewing the spirit of true Democratic debate in this country that will lead to that positive change in not seeing that window on this climate crisis close.

Our UN Effort Regarding Al Gore Continues

By LadyInBlack
09/08/2006 11:37:46 PM EST
Today I faxed this letter with a cover letter to the Secretary General Of the UN, Kofi Annan. It is the second in a series of correspondence I will be sending to the Secretary General with the hope that a UN Global Environmental Ambassador position will be considered, and that the Honorable Al Gore will be considered to fill the post as our first Global Environmental Ambassador for the 21 st Century.
This is an effort I have been working on for the last year and a half, and one I have no intention of stopping because I believe it is that important for our world.
Now, I am under no illusions here. I know I am simply just a common concerned citizen... but perhaps, just perhaps my conviction regarding this effort will at least elicit a response from a staffer of his to start a dialogue about it. I can only hope. And I do hope because I still believe this type of position is now necessary, and that Mr. Gore is the most qualified individual to fill this position now as he has truly found his calling.

The Global Water Crisis In Relation To Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth

By LadyInBlack
09/06/2006 04:21:57 PM EST
An Inconvenient Truth not only discusses what we are doing to our atmosphere regarding the burning of fossil fuels. Related to that is also the looming water crisis we now face that is predicted to lead us into wars for this precious resource should current trends continue, and as human activity continues to contribute to the conditions causing severe drought in our world through melting permafrost and glaciers.
